3 weeks tomorrow

Hello Everyone,

its 3 weeks tomorrow since my op. Time flies when you are having fun!!! I am walking quite well with one stick, getting showered and dressed by myself.......but....... I have pain in the knee on the operated leg. Is this normal, anyone else have this please? It seems to go round the back and the outside of the knee. The top of my thigh is still sore and I am wondering if it could be referred pain and not, God forbid, early warning of a knee replacement!

Hi Margaret.

Im 7 weeks. I had knee pain to start for the first 5 weeks. I asked the physio about it and she said it was because I was over compensating on my operated side. It has eased off now I'm stronger in the leg. I walked a mile and half today and no knee pain so it does ease off as your muscles get stronger.

take care

Hi Margaret,

i am just at the same stage.  Do you see a physio? You might be putting pressure on your knee. I am still taking pain killers, gradually reducing them, and exercising gently. one to one physio is a real confidence booster, or maybe you have a friend who is one who can take a look at what you are doing. Mine watches me, copies what I am doing wrong and then tells me how to correct it.

Hope you sort it out,

Olive

Hi

I would think referred pain much more likely. I've never had any problems with my knees but since my op I've found them both hurting.

I'm not going to worry, think there will be aches in places I never knew I had!

Carry on recovering!

I am having pain mostly in my non op knee, Im sure because I use that leg more than the bad one, to stand up I put my weight on that knee too

oh and at first few weeks , even when still in hospital I had pain in op knee

Hello,  After my basic soreness went away after surgery, I developed knee pain also.  Hip felt pretty great but the knee was terrible. It started above the op knee side, then to the inner side then to behind the knee.  After 2-3 weeks of that it is gone. My physio told me to stretch my legsl.  Stand on something with your heel off and lower the heels to make the leg stretch.  Also hang that leg off the side of the bed or something tall for a few minutes while laying down to stretch it out.  Not sure if that is what helped, or just time to heal. Also ice and some heat alternating.

Thank you Connie. I will try that.

Hi Margaret ... I have been told the same thing - This soreness on the top of my thigh apparently is a healing "pain: - I swear I can feel the implanted rod sometimes - and the ball in  socket ... however, so much better than before surgery though .. I keep telling myself - moving right along darling ....
