i dont think its normal

thanks i got mine didnt got swollen at all not even alittle at least not taht is ee

i am 2 weeks post op

Hi aj60

The leg does swell but it shouldn't be very painful !

I would contact your consultant, they should have given you a number when you left hospital.

Thanks Christine.  Think I will give them a call tomorrow.  He is doing all exercises and trying to walk but it really isn't any better.   His knee measures over 24 inches now....thigh 27....😒

thanks.  Are u still using two crutches

Both my legs, ankles & feet were quite swollen for at least 6 weeks post op, so that there was only 1 pair of shoes I could get on.  The NHS claims that swelling, on this tijme scale, is quite common.  (Now, at 7 months, the leg no longer swells, but both feet swell a wee bit ~ enough to make getting shoes & boots on difficult...)

Hi, I am 19 days post op and the swelling in my left foot and knee is slowly going down but still causes some resistance to my exercises. My hospital help team said ths will be normal for up to five to six weeks but if still very swollen then come back to them and to have it checked.  When relaxing is any time taken to raise the foot above heart level to enable circulation etc ?. I think now its 35 days I'd get it checked out.

Best wishes to you.

Thanks Kevin and others that have replied.   I think I will call the hospital tomorrow as this really is seemingly a problem and the limited physio I am/can do is clearly not enough.  Btw he is sitting with legs elevated when he can
