Hi,
Due to avn i had to have a bi-lateral hip replacement in 2006 at the age of 36...in 2011 i had to have revision surgery on one of them as it failed, the pain i experienced left me hardly being able to stand upright for months.
Now i have spent quite a lot of time on the internet searching for this as my doctor does not have the details and says it will cost me for them to search and i want to avoid the hospital at the moment for this info.
I am nearly 100% certain that when the consultant mentioned the name in 2006 it was 3M who had supplied the metal on metal implant as i referenced it to myself thinking i only thought they provided office products!!.I have tried searching on the net for 3M implants being used in 2006 but the last MOM implants that i seemed tp come accross were the reknown 'Capital Hip' in the late 90's?? I am hoping that other people may have had a 3M MOM implant on here but Can anyone please help me with this or point me in a direction other than contacting the hospital as i am a bit upset with them at the moment which is unrelated.
hope you can help
rusty

3M ANNOUNCES SALE OF IMPLANTS BUSINESS TO SMITH & NEPHEW

As I understand it, as a patient you are entitled to have copies of your medical records - Freedom of Information Act. I don't know if you have to pay a fee for this but you could contact PALS at the hospital and say you want your records and take it from there. It is your body, you shouldn't have to guess what it was that was used.
Thank you possum for the advice but as i mentioned i was trying to find it for myself but ur reply was much appreciated my friend
Thank so much meldrew1...that was just the info i was looking for,i dont know how i missed this u r far better than i,all info on here is so valuble to me and i am very very grateful.

take care
You are most welcome Rusty.
