4.5 weeks after rectocele repair ache

hey guys does my aching sounds normal for 4.5 weeks after repair of rectocele ? Last week I was sore and aching after walking a little bit around the supermarket with hubby and about half hour round block to I rested all week.  Yesterday I drove my mum into town to the bank and back.  I then went out for a meal with my son to celebrate his first job offer.  Today I was a passenger in car and went to a couple of shops and supermarket but just walked no lifting.  Tonight my privates ache like crazy.  When I tense my bum the cheeks hurt like mad. Is this normal and how long before it goes away.  After a bowel movement even though it's not hard to do I ache like mad for ages after as well.  😩 😩 IT IS LITERALLY A PAIN IN THE BUM

Hi I am 6 months now after my operation. I can now say it has been a success. However I went through all sorts of aches and pains I was convinced it hadn't worked. I used to get cramps between my legs after walking Just persevere You are at the early stages and you are still very swollen inside. Take it easy and all will be well

You've done way too much, at this stage you are still healing, and by the sound of it, have irritated the hell out of your operated bits.

Two days on the trot is a bit much, in and out of cars, and a lot of sitting on the sore bits isn't a good idea.

Give yourself a few more weeks to heal, you are still swollen inside.

Hi Amanda,

You have had major surgery and it can take up to 3-4 months before you start to feel like you are getting back to normal.

I was told to start with a 5 mint walk at 2-3 weeks and slowly build up to 2 × 20in walks by 6 weeks; and I found that still a struggle.

You have to listen to your own body and this will tell you when you have done too much. Avoid any down pressure on your pelvic floor as your body will take many weeks/months to properly heal especially the deeper tissues.

Rest plenty and be very careful you don't want your repair to fail or have to go through this again and really what is a few months of rest in comparison to the rest of your life. The more careful you are to give your body the chance to heal in these early months the more successful your repair will be and will last much longer.

Please take care and try not to worry too much, I'm sure you will be fine. When you think about how they do this surgery it's no wonder that the recovery takes so long and is so painful when we put any stress on our pelvic floor. It is such a sensitive area down below and full of lots of nerve endings, it will take time for the tissues to recover.

As others say you are early days yet.
