4 months of insane insomnia after ciprofloxacin

This started 1/24/26 when i decided to go to the ER because of some heavy stomach pains I’ve been having. They do a ct scan and diagnose me with diverticulitis, although it turned it to be colitis.

They gave me 500mg ciprofloxacin and 500mg flagyl for treatment over 10 days

First night i was just laying in bed the entire time. I thought i sleep a little bit but it turns out i didn’t.

I started to experience closed eye hallucinations in which 2 lines fail to connect. Every time i would start to drift off they would wake me up and prevent me from falling asleep.

2 other instances I’ve had include being about to fall asleep and i start having the most insane coughing fit ive ever had. The other instance was almost falling asleep and in the next moment my heart felt like it was about to stop.

I was on it for only 8 out of the 10 days because of how major the side-effects were.

I always feel wide awake now and never feel drowsiness

I’ve tried exercising, listening to audio books, listening to calm noise at night, wearing myself out as much as possible. But the sleepiness does not come. And I ask it why but he shuts the door every time

I had a week or 2 initally where i had no medication to help me sleep, felt like my brain was melting, hairloss lost my peripheral vision, extreme brainfog, limbs getting weaker, stomach digesting so loud and oddly.

After from one sleeping medication to another. On top of that i did cbti. Nothing has been showing improvement sadly. I’ve been sustaining myself with ambien for now. I am taking a lot of supplements like magnesium, ltheanin, GABA, Coq10 and some others. Its been about a month and i really haven’t noticed a difference.

I just have so many symptoms and things just aren’t looking better for me as of now.

I’m 25 and it feels as though I’m slowly losing more and more abilities.

I’m stuck and i need some solid medical advice please
