Still not waking well with stiffness, swelling and pain.
I had the same experience. I got really depressed because of the tightness and stiffness in front and back. I iced a lot. Fortunately, by doing the exercises and continue the ice and pain meds, after around 8 weeks it started to feel better. I don’t need a cane. There is light at the end of the tunnel. Keep the faith
I am 11 weeks post op. Finally having less pain & stiffness. Not totally gone but I walk without a cane, do household & even some gardening chores & then ice & elevate. I am diligent with my exercises every day and FINALLY feel like there really is a light at the end of the tunnel. Hang in there!
How much time do you spend exercising daily for your knee?
30 minutes twice a day 5 days a week
Spend 30 min on a stationary bike
TKR Rule #1: Get rid of ALL your "expectations". They only screw with your head.
The worst period of the recovery is the first 12 weeks...you've just started. Ice, elevate, pain meds, ROM work. That's it. Once you get past 3 months and have your ROM back, then you have to rebuild your dead quads, glutes and core...

The whole recovery takes a year. Count on it...accept it. Give the knee time, do the required work and have patience. Click on my name and then "See All Discussions"...tons of material out there for you to ponder...
