Hi. Ive been taking 20mg of citalopram for 4 weeks now to help with panic disorder . The 1st week was bad with side effects . Then the 2nd week i felt alot better . But now the 3rd and 4th week have been awful again . Feeling sick ... dizzy.... headaches.... feeling like i dont want to do anything ...not sleeping much and waking up with thoughts of panic and my heart pounding out my chest . Is this normal ??
Hi julie yes it is all the side effects you are suffering from are normal.i found it took about 8 weeks for them to start subsiding but i thought about coming off them at the time but this forum got me through stick with it they really do work best of luck.jeff
Yeah Julie I went through similar, i'm 20mg about 6 and a half weeks in and the side effects have come and gone and been worse then better in little cycles - it's frustrating and it's probably natural to think about stopping but it is normal so stick with it and good luck
Hi julie
Yes that is normal i felt better on the 4th week and just got better from there x just try and go with the feeling dont fight it listen to calming apps when u can they help
hi Julie, you can get these side effects for another 6/8 weeks until the ssri builds up in your body ,then you will start too feel better within yourself
Thank you . Just finding tough at the min . Ive had citalopram in the past for depression and they worked great and i had no side effects . So it was worrying me way i have them so bad this time around . I was worried they wasnt working .
Are you still feeling rough ๐ its awful isnt it . On the plus side my panic has calmed down a bit but not as much as id like . But i dont want to up them because of all the horrible side effects again
I've been finding it cycling every couple of days, the past few days for me I've barely been able to get out of bed or have motivation to do anything but I'm definitely finding the side effects lessening and lessening, as I've got more used to them. if you're worried about needing to up them then you should speak to your gp but as I've been told try stay the course for the 12 weeks, and yeah, the side effects have become less intrusive to me and I'm sure they will for you as well
Stick with it Julie, I was the exact same. Could get out of bed for weeks! Had plenty more side effects too. 9 weeks now and things are slowwwwwwly improving. Off to Fuerteventura in 8 days for 11 days of vitamin D Yay! Impossible thought just 4 weeks ago..... hang in there Julie, weโre all doing this together๐ Manny.
Hi Manny
I was on cit when a course of antibiotics kicked off a bad anxiety attack i had alot of councelling and meditation techniques and yes on week 4 i felt a lot better i still get the odd hiccup but seem to manage it ok x I must admit when it first happened i didnt think in a million years by week 4 i would be feeling how i did
Hi michelle.
Ive woken up feeling awful again today . Next monday will be my 5th week. Just want it to all go away . Im a mum of 3 so find it really hard to get motivated . From about 4pm im fine every day . It worries me when i hear some people are more ahead than me and still feeling the side effects ๐
It does get better Julie, Iโm week 9 but today I woke up all jibbly and anxious again. I was reaching for the diazepam earlier but holding out ๐ some days are better than others..
I wake up trembling before l have time to think so I know it must be chemical and not thought provoked. But then the negative thoughts ensue and the feeling of going backwards set in. Thinking positive helps in a big way....
I was like it the first time i had it feb 2017 took me about 8 weeks to get back to normality x Dont worry everyone is different focus on the good things when u go to bed really focus on what u love doing fall asleep with that thought x You will get there honestly try listening to an end anxiety app there are lots on u tube x
Thanks michelle . Its just rubbish isnt it . I feel as tho there not working for me or that i need to up them . But really dont want to go through all the side effects again . Its nice to know other people have been through the same . I was starting to think it was just me .
Awful isnt it manny ๐
If u speak to your doc and go up 5mg u shouldnt get any side effects x u can also take 10mg of propronol which is a beta blocker which helps with side effects they r good x
Thank you i will ask my doctor next week
In one word.... YES๐ just be reassured it does improve. Patience is the key....
