4 weeks post-op, and morning pain is becoming a rea pain in the butt!

Im 4 weeks post op, and waking up every morning with a terrible ache in my new joint. It goes away after I take an IB profin and get moving around a bit. Im just wondering if this is normal pain, and if anyone else has had this experience...

Hi Chelsea ... sounds familiar - I understand that this is part of the healing process - can also be muscle pain/stiffness - it is a good sign that it goes away after you take ibuproven ... you re probably doing more during the day too - I am almost 12 weeks post op and still have this experience ... have a good night -

Hi chelsea.

Yep totally normal.I am 8 weeks post oip & What I do is footpumps and get the blood flowing before I get up.

I also take 2 painkillers about 20 mins before I get up and it helps a lot.too

Hi Chelsea,

yes this is quite normal, you are only 4 weeks in, it gets better each day, it's the new joint settling in and the interior muscles mending, try ice packs, it worked for me,

good luck with your recovery

Lynne.

At 4 weeks my hip ached after being in bed for a few hours and I was stiff up to that point and then it gradually lessened. Now I'm just turned 6 weeks I have a bit of an ache this morning but nowhere near as much and I'm not so stiff. What I did to help was have less painkillers in the day and so when I woke up at 3-5 in the morning I could have a good dose of paracetomol and separate codeine. This reduced the pain considerably and allowed me to get a bit more sleep.
