I had laparoscopic exploratory surgery six weeks ago They fixed a very small and Billy Cole hernia and they cut down quite a bit of scar tissue the lower left lower right and upper left area and the first two weeks I have my incision was sore but that got better after 12 days I started getting very stinging burning stabbing knife like pain on the left upper left quad down to beside the belly button it’s very debilitating at times but I think it’s normal having read all these posts it seems to be something that everyone goes through 6 to 8 weeks they say will be my surgeon in two weeks
Hope you feel better soon
Hello.
It's now 4 weeks since I had a full hysterectomy and bladder and bowel repair. I wanted to let everyone know how I'm feeling and to let anyone else who is going through the same that everything we are going through is normal and that you are all doing great.
Ok 4wks in and I still feel crap: very tired all the time, stinging, pulling, tightness and pain with swollen abdomen. The main thing I find frustrating is the boredom, my mind is active but my body isn't. My advice to everyone who feels the same is to find a craft to do even if it's painting by numbers if you think you're not crafty. Keep yourself occupied but be comfortable, buy a portable table (over bed type) these are great as you can adjust hight . Just remember ladies this is a major op, don't rush, listen to your body and take things at your pace.
Thanks for sharing. Bladder & bowel repair on top of hysterectomy ouch. Did you have ovaries removed as well ( not part of hysterectomy)?
I get what you mean by boredom and tiredness. Take it 1 day at a time. Get as much restas you can.
Hi, yes I've had everything taken out including ovaries. I'm trying to keep myself busy by doing crafts however I can't get that comfortable as it hurts, sitting, standing and lying so have to keep move. It's like getting cramp in my stomach at the moment. 😵
Hi Dana. I feel your pain! I'm 3 and a half weeks post op and I'm having it very hard. Night sweats, sleep deprived, hot flashes, swollen tummy and just overall uncomfortable. Have you had any progress yet? Thanks!
I am 3 months post op and my stomach is still swelling and I have back pain. Despite still having my ovaries and exercising , I have gaine weight and inches. I look like I have a spare tire around my waist. I thought I would not have a swollen belly, 3 months adter surgery. I remember seeing my belly hours after surgery and I was so happy because it was flat. Now it is swollen everyday. I feel so discouraged. I wish everyone here a speedy recovery. *Hugs*
Is it yours swollen at the end of the day? I read some posts overdoing? I'm at 6 weeks post op. I noticed I'm sore now back at b worl. (Physical job) I want to get back into working out weight lifting I'm tired.
At first it was after I would do too much, but now it is most of the time. Even in the morning before eating. I just found it takes up to a year for complete healing. I am still feeling lower back pain and radiating down my back leg if I do too much.
Hello, I am 4 weeks po. I too am having stinging sharp pains, weak, and hot flashes at night as well. Sometimes I get dizzy but not sick. I'm 34 yrs old and I'm on my second surgery now. The first time I had mass the size of a watermelon on left ovary and cysts on right ovary. They were able to remove all of them on right ovary but had to take the left one completely. 7 months later I had developed blood cysts on right ovary. Each time of the month it was causing the blood cysts. So they took my uterus and half of my right ovary. I am impatient and ready to get back to normal. My stomach is sore and tender, a lot of the time too. I have to sleep with underwear only at night because the hot flashes are so bad!!! Baby powder all over ,and a fan seems to help some. I go to Drs tomorrow so I will see what they say. Feel better ladies!
Hiya Julie I am day 9 post laparoscopic total hysterectomy and experienceing exactly the same symptoms as yourself so this feels reassuring to know thanks
Are you taking a stool softener?
I am 4 weeks post op, abdominal, and take a stool softener every day. And metamucil. Also, LOTS OF FLUIDS
I'm 3 months post op. My stomach is always swollen and tight. I didn't think it would be like this either. I've also gained weight. I'm so frustrated. I don't know if this is normal or what I should do...
hello i just had the same thing done and its been 1 week today so far . yes u must take it easy because it can get worse and u can get a hernia so take it easy for the rest of your healing .. i was doing it since i been home but i now see why my stomach gets that way . we are pulling the muscle ..
no its not go see your doctor and get some answers its always good to read about everything before and after .. i just had a abnormal hysterectomy as well and kept my ovaries ..i feel the tingling once in a while but i am taking it easy now because i don't want any mistakes .. please be careful .
yes its normal i get the same thing i just had a abnormal hysterectomy 1 week from today and i feel that tingling feeling .
4 weeks ago to this day I had my an abdominal hysterectomy, with my ovaries, and fallopian tubes removed. I also had a rectocele performed. I have sharp stabbing/aching pain on my right lower abdomen, right hip, and right lower back. I'm going to physical therapy for bladder issues, and the pain I'm experiencing. I take 600mg motrin every 6 hours, which help, but it seems if I do, just a little too much, I'm hurting and the motrin doesn't take effect. I have seen my doctor for my 2 week post-op, this is why I'm going to PT. I was also supposed to be back at work by May 7th, and not I'm looking at May 21st. I have also discovered a huge bulge on my right upper abdomen, which my doctor couldn't figure out. We are keeping an eye on this situation. Give it time, everyone is different. Just follow the docs orders, and do what he says.
hi my name is Eve, I had abdo hysterictomy as well due to fibroids and heavy bleeding during periods. It's my 4weeks post op and 3weeks ago my recoveey is doing so well but after 3weeks I been getting like stabbing pain in my stomach and my belly is hard sometimes its hard to touch and its worse when I have wind inside it hurts really bad. Im worried that there is something wrong inside like maybe the stiches come undone or something. I hope theres nothing wrong....
OMG Sabina! You couldn't have explained it better! I'm 11 weeks post op and i feel like a house! This constant bloating is just terrible. I just ordered a waist trainer and some apple cider gummies. I'm desperate. sheesh!!! I was expecting to have my fibroids removed and go on with my life. Why is this happening? I asked my doctor, and she said "inactivity." ERRRRR someone give us an answer or solution . :-(
hi
the swelling can last up to 6 months plus hun. your body has had a lit of pushing, pulling, cutting and stitching.
I had tvh and I'm very slim but it still took 6 months p,us to return back to normal size.
try not to worry about it.
