Hi I am 4 weeks post op (posterior and anterior repair plus Vagainal hysterectomy. Recovery going well, just had the usual pains and bowl problems.
I have however over the last 3/4 days been itchy down below, sudocrem is helping. I have had a good luck and all looks ok considering however there is a rash that's developed on the sides which looks rather inflamed. Possibly from wearing a pad for so long maybe (still bleeding/discharge) but un side tbh, just wondered if anyone else has had this, just debating if to try and get app with GP tomorrow??
Any advice greatly apprecauted
Thanks ladies xxx
Hi Jill, no expert but I found the creams can make the area wet and mosit and that can make for rashes and infections and others yukky things like thrush. I would keep away from the creams and use cold packs for relief instead. Just my opinion but this is what Matron suggested too she doesn't recommend using any creams etc. I find the whole area is very dry and I think that is why it itches so much. Just before I shower I pop on some Vitamin E oil & coconut cream and just leave it on for a few minutes while I wash myslef them rinse it off. I always make sure I dry the area throughly and try and avboid heavy pads as they make it rub. I just use the ultra thin panty liners and change them more often. If your rash doesn't improve do go see your GP. Hope this helps.. keep smiling
Ok that's helpful, thank you so much xxxx
Hi Jill I too had this itching and took a thrush capsule rather than cream, also use estrogen cream twice a week. I would go to ur gp just to be on the safe side. X
I remember getting a bit of a rash and soreness so I stopped wearing the pads except at night and it went - think it was almost like nappy rash X
What is estrogen cream? I have heard of a few people posting on here about it, thanks for your advice, I have got an app today at 4.30pm xxx
I think that's what it is, that is what it looks like!!!
Thanks xx
