4 weeks post op tomorrow. I'm super happy!

All is well in my world. I have been doing great! I did everything my surgeon told me to do and my recovery has been story book.

After two weeks i put the walker away and began walking with my cane and at times with out it in the house. I walk daily at least 3 times out side and i'm up every two hrs. regardless. The important thing i find is to keep MOVING.

Strengthening and building muscle has helped my endurance as well. I don't have pain in my hip any longer. Perhaps a bit of muscle discomfort but not near as much as last week or the weeks before. Keeps getting better every week.

I can put my socks and shoes on by myself. That's a real accomplishment for me since it's been over ten years since been able. Also being able to pick up things off the floor without difficulty is refreshing and not having to ask for help. Regaining my independance has been extrermely rewarding.

I can stand and cook in the kitchen finally without any problem.

I'm able to sleep just fine. I havn't tried sleeping on my side yet but have been sleeping on my back for the last five years so have gotten use to sleeping that way.

Stairs are easy for me to use up and down and i can actually drive confidently, even though i was told to wait six weeks. My response time is safe when driving. It's been nice to walk the market without looking for a place to sit down or rush because of pain. Pain no longer controls me.

I'm 53 years old and have faith that getting off the sidelines of life and back into the main stream will be a reality.

I have loads of energy. If i'm tired, i rest. I listen to what my body is telling me. If my muscles begin to feel stiff, i get up and walk. That is an instant cure for me.It's nice to have a leg walking strainght again. It use to gape to the right. Those muscles had to readjust again.I regained my nch in height that i lost and my legs are the same length again.

I do have my left hip that also needs replaced but it's not near as bad as the one they just replaced. So i will be taking this time to build strength, Enjoy my summer and then plan on getting my left hip done.

I see my surgeon in two weeks for 6 week post op appointment.

I'm still wearing my support socks for another two weeks. Taking my aspirin every day as required. Doing my leg exercises as i sit or lay. Those have really helped. Especially the butt squeezes. Those muscles don't hurt any more and i know it's because i was doing the exercises.

I'm looking forward to what week 5 has in store for me.

Wishing all of you a successful surgery and recovery.

Sincerely Rogue Warrior AKA sherri. Portlan Oregon USA

An amazing recovery for you mainly because you are so positive, I hope I can remain the same as you, did you have minimally invasive? Did you have anterior or posterior approach?

Veronica

What a feel good post. Thanks for sharing

cheesygrinThat's great news, Sherri.

I remember chatting with you all those weeks ago when being at this point seemed to be soooo far away. Now here is you doing just fabulous and I am six weeks post op on Wednesday this week and see my consultant on Friday.  I am doing fabulously well too and I am so thrilled. Like you I need the other one done too but will wait until the first one is up to full strength, maybe this time next year as the right one is no where near as bad as the left was although it is still bad enough to need done.

Your positivity is inspirational and I hope to read of your continued recovery cheesygrin

Great to hear you doing so well after only 4 weeks. This forum will help me know what to expect and know that good results will happen.

thanks!

Yes, positive energy is so important for recovery Veronica.I learned tha being a breast cancer survivor so far.

I had THR, anterior lateral with spinal anastesia. I have about a six inch scar on the side of my thigh. No muscle cutting. Hardly even a bruise afterwards.

Hi Ali!

Yes, i remember. I look back at it now and remind mself, it doesn't do any good to worry. Just as long as you have all your i's dotted and your t's crossed we'll be fine.Save your energy for recovery.

It doesn't heal on it's own, we have to work at it.

Next is stationary bike for me for my physical therapy. That i am looking forward to. I havn't had the rotary in my hip to ride a bike in over 15 years.

I'm so glad to hear you're doing so great! Sounds like we have simular stories on the hip, even the same side and my other not being as severe as my right.

Yes, i agree, perhaps this time next year or when my body tells me it's time. I'll know.

I'm super excited for the both of us.

Forward march march. Yes, i'll keep sharing my recovery. I'm also recovering from weight loss surgery from a year ago. So far i've lost over 100 lbs.I have another 20-30 lbs. i want to lose. Finally i can exercise to get that done. Also Breast Cancer surgery in remision now for 3 years in October. I've been on quite a mission. I just know to never give up and to believe in yourself.

Really pleased to here your doing so well." God is good"

Brian

Blimey! I had weight loss surgery about 15 years ago and lost half my body weight in 18 months. We really are similar!

I was always able to ride a bike, in fact me and the hubby hired bikes last year on our honeymoon and went riding along the vast promenade in Spain. Mine was a 3 wheeler but shhh don't tell anyone cheesygrin I never had problems riding a bike, just getting on the damn thing!

You've really been through it, haven't you, which is why your positivity is so inspirational! With an attitude like that, nothing is ever going to stop you lady. You are a force to be reckoned with and I love it!

speak to you again soon I hope biggrin
