Hi Lotty,
Unfortunately I can't help but I am in the same boat. Today is the 4 week mark for me on 50mg of generic sertraline and I still have low mood and high anxiety (especially in the mornings). I had a few good days around the 2 week mark but this past week has been rubbish.
I hope you get some encouraging replies!
Hi lotty, when you due back to see your doctor? You might need a dose increase? I've been on sertaline for 4weeks too and had a couple of ok days around week 2/3 but nothing since. I'm on 100mg now been on that for 6days now just made me very tired xxx
Hi Amanda, I'm the same as you. I'm around the week 4 mark but it does say takes between 6-8weeks for full effect. Will you be upping your dose? I've been on 100mg for 6days now just very tired see my doctor a week tomorrow so see what she says xx
Hi Lotty, you basically have two options. You could wait it out for another 2-4 weeks to see if you feel better. If you don't want to and feel this dose is too low, you can increase the dosage to 75mg, and then 100mg if need be.
If I were you, I would wait it out for next 3 weeks to see if I still need to increase my dosage.
Take care and I hope you feel better soon.
Hi godsservant, I think I've spoke to you before. I've been on sertaline for around 4weeks now. I started on 25mg as I split the dose as I was scared to take it. Took that for 6days then upped to 50mg for 19days then my dr wanted me to go up to 100mg so I did 6days on 75mg and I've been on 100mg for 6days so far. I'm really tired. I had some ok days on 50mg and 75mg but not so much on 100mg. It's only been 6days, how long do I have to wait until it starts to kick in? I see my dr a week on Wednesday. Thank you xx
Haha, while you were writing to me, I was responding to on your thread.
About 2 weeks, 2 weeks TOPS, honey.
Hang in there!
😘 thank you. I will and thanks for your post. Means a lot xxx
Oh forgot to tell you. Feeling tired is natural. I was sooo tired at the 4 week mark. So get plenty of rest and sleep. Your body and mind need it.
Zoloft 29 days at 50mg, and bumped up to 100mg today. GP told me to after the last visit. Still anxiety a little, but have to stick out the symptoms for the better outlook ahead. 1rst week on 50mg was very bad side effects. Anxiety very bad, and loss of appetite due to stomach ache. 2nd week was up, and down, but still sick to stomach, but could eat, and felt better.
3rd week anxiety coming back more, and sour stomach less. 4th week and anxiety little more than usual, so GP said to up the dose to 100mg. And xanax .5mg when needed. I hope it does get better.
My side effects have been, very high anxiety, ears ringing, sour-sick stomach, motion sickness feeling, and off, and on not sleeping.
I'm new to the page. Used to be on celexa 40mg and Doc weaned me off. 8 months later, out of nowhere, panic, anxiety attacks. So Zoloft now, and hoping for the best.
Thank you GodsServant!
As this is the third ssri I am trying, I'm fed up! Fed up crying myself to sleep, turning down social events & the only thing I get excited for is going to my bed!
My dr reckons if after 4 weeks it hasn't worked then it prob won't but I am slow to respond so part of me thinks I should try to hang on! What do you think?xx
Hi Todd, it's awful to have to go through it all and I'm so glad we're not alone. You feeling any better on the sertaline? I went up to 100mg a week ago and I'm really tired and today anxiety has returned not as bad but there and negative thoughts too which I hate. I know I have to give it a while to set in once upped dose so hoping it'll improve soon. See my dr a week today so see what she says. How you doing today? x
Hi godsservant, hope your ok? just checking to see if you experienced anxiety and negative thoughts when you increased your dose? I've been on the 100mg for a week now and had no change just feel worse, do you think it'll start to help soon just feel I'm stuck like this xxx
Took the 100mg about 6hrs ago, and ok so far. Ringing in the ears, and kinda an upset stomach. Tired also. If I start to get to much panicy, or anxiety, I will take a benzo, but I try to only take when very needed.
How are you today?
Yes I get the ringing in ears too. Got it now actually it's like a buzzing noise. Glad your feeling ok so far.
I'm on day7 of 100mg and not felt any improvement yet. Last couple of days I've had bad anxiety and knotted stomach and negative thoughts, I hope it improves soon. It's awful to go through isn't?! x
Had to lay down was tired. Woke up and was ok for like an hour, but kinda shakey.
No big anxiety or nothing. Ringing/buzzing slightly in the ears. Just mostly weak rubbery arms and legs feeling.
2nd day now on 100mg stepping up from 50mg.
Hope all is well with everyone
Lotty, sorry it took me awhile to respond. Real busy at work yesterday.
I would hang on for 2-3 weeks. You've already gone thru 1 month, so whats 2-3 more weeks to truly see if this med works for you? I know it seems like a long time, but you want to have no doubt in your mind if the drug is not right for you. It took me 6 weeks to start feeling a bit better cuz I was consumed 24/7 by OCD thoughts. 8 weeks to start feeling back to land of living.
So hang on! Stay strong.
Michelle, sorry it took awhile to respond. Was really busy at work yesterday.
Yes, I experienced spikes in anxiety and negative thoughts and was all over the place for the first 2 weeks after I increased my dose to 100mg. It was worse when I went to 150mg for 2 weeks. I had what felt like crying fits but no tears to feeling like a zombie in a matter of hours. I was all over the place, not to mention I was so tired and was suffering terrible side effects like neck pain and diarrhea and locked jaws and sleep issues, etc.
Like I said, you will get better and see light at end of tunnel. Stay positive. Distract yourself with something, a word game on computer or iPad, try to get rest. Give it 2-3 weeks more. You have beaten this before and you will again.
I hope your meeting with your husband will go well this weekend when he comes over.
Xxx, sending you big hugs from across the pond.
Michelle,
I know how it feels going crazy because we feel like we should be better now but we are still struggling. What I find helps is trying to do other things that might help you. Eg) going to the gym, sitting in the sauna, doing YouTube yoga videos, acupuncture, aromatherapy, getting massages, trying to get some sunlight each day etc. That way you don't feel like you are solely relying on the medication to make you feel better.
Hopefully not long now for the meds to kick in fully though!
Hi Amanda, thank you, I do try but so difficult. I do work so I get out the house but still hard. What dose you on? I've been on 100mg for 8days now and feel worse. I did 75mg for 6days and I had a couple of good days I just want this to start working xx
