First time posting, have found some threads about citalapram very helpful.
I am on day 22 of 10mg. I was prescribed 20mg but didn't like the side effects so dropped to 10mg after only 2 days. My anxiety had made me terrified of taking them.
I still had side effects but have persevered. I was getting feelings of dissasociation before the tablets but it seems to be worse his week. Has anyone else suffered this? I understand it is normal to feel this way on these but this late into taking them? Also petrified in case I have dosage put up and have to go through it all again. Are side effects as bad when you increase dose? I know everyone is different.
My daughter has not had much trouble dosing up from 10, 20, 30, to 40. I quit for 6 months, got back on 20 and started to feel better. The they switched me to 30. I changed completely. I was crying and felt like I could not do anything. I switched back to 20 and never felt better, so I had to get off this drug. Everybody is different.
hi Ann, every time you up your level ,you may get side effects,so do not play about with your dosage too much.since you are on 10 mg .leave it on 10 mg and side effects will start too go down.3 weeks on this medication is not long enough too loose your side effects ,you need to wait another 6 weeks for the ssri too build up within yourself.
Yep everyone is different. You mention about the dissociation being normal at this late stage, your stage is still very early, my dissociations didnt start to improve until roughly 9 weeks. Doctors and websites talk about 6 to 8 weeks for something to work. This is generally misleading, as thats when you first notice small and brief improvements, that over further time, get stronger, frequent and last longer. Some people may get better more quickly, but i havent come across any. If your dissassociation doesnt improve, then you may need a dose increase. That may or may not mean going through side effects again. Whether you do, and how bad they are, differs for different people. I think the longer you have been on a medication, the easier the side effects will be, generally. You could try going to 15mg, for a while, before going onto 20mg, if you need to. Doing it that way, it should be easier. All the best.
Thanks Nigel think I am expecting too much too soon. Even a slight improvement would be welcome. Instead today hasn't been good as i think keep reading posts, which are very helpful, may be feeding into the anxiety a bit. Constant thoughts of the ways to beat the anxiety, like going with it, keeping busy, dont try and stop the excessive thinking etc but now that's all I can think about. Lol 🤪
