Well, it’s been a while since I’ve posted. I’m coming along pretty well. Leading a very busy life with work and coaching baseball. I am actually throwing batting practice to the kids about every other day.
My only issue I’m still having uis stiffness. Waking up sore every day. Hoping it will soon go away. The soreness is in my legs, not my hip. Any ideas on getting more limber? Other than that I’m doing quite well.
It sounds like you are doing very well for 5 1/2 months after surgery. I would suggest icing after your activities. I started playing tennis after about 4 months, and iced every day afterwards. It helped. I am almost 11 months out from surgery and am back to most all of my regular activities. But no more running for exercise. Most of the time I forget I had hip replacement, wow what a godsend. I had Anterior Left Hip replacement, went home same afternoon.
How mobile were you before the THR, don't forget those muscles have been idle or pulled in the wrong directions for ages, so getting them going in the correct direction without some pain will take time.
I would say it was 18 months before I really felt better, although the awful OA pain was gone immediately after the operation.
I cannot offer anything to Keith other than work on the muscle strengthening exercises and perhaps a long hot soak in the bath to relax everything before bed.
Stacey that is great news, well done. Sounds rather like what I experienced after my primary THS but mine was twenty one years ago and done posterior. refused last year and now is history.
Swimming and Hot Tubbing or Hot baths...... soak that poor body as it sounds like you are hitting 10+ in the activity scale....... in other words coach..... you are pushing yourself TOO hard..... lol......
