5 days post gastric band

Hi all

I am 5 days post gastric band fitting and I am sooooo hungry, nothing in liquid form is satisfying me. I have got back to my normal self very quickly and went back to my full time job yesterday. I am in no pain and have no gas pain. I am just no going to be able to Abstain from eating for another 9 days I'm ravenous!!!!

I don't know what I can do it's making me so miserable 😞

I'd anyone else experiencing this? X

Hi Nat.

I am 8 weeks post op and remember that stage very well! I had to have soups/shakes for 4 weeks beforfe I could start on pureed food. They told me to have complan or similar every hour and to be honest that seemed to fill me up. What have they advised?

Hi Nat

Glad your feeling better! I'm still in some pain but its bearable, I am also quite hungry I have soup and the I'm hungry again 10 mins later.

However I am allowed to go onto soft foods on Saturday! Do you have a dietician? Maybe contact them and see why you have to wait 2 weeks?

I think it's all a case of trial and error, I'm going to try some soft food on sat and if it makes me uncomfortable il stay on liquids another few days.

I know how you feel though! There's nothing worse than feeling hungry.

Hi Joanne,

I can't get in touch with anyone to speak to them I missed them yesterday and today 😞I'm so fed up It actually makes me regret having it done ........ Please tell me it gets better lol x

Hey jasmin

Glad u r feeling better too 😊 good to hear from you!

I can't understand why 2 weeks either 😞seems silly when I feel so normal now.

I will try to contact them again tomorrow and see what they say, I hope it's good news or I will most definitely cry!! Lol x

Have you tried weetabix to go shakes ? They are a bit thicker than slimfast or complan and do make you feel fuller.

This phase doesn't last that forever and I am sure you'll get through it. It's is tough at first but bear with it.

Oooh no never even heard of them would they be with the cereal/cereal bars in the supermarket?

Thank yoooou 😊 x

Don't worry, it definitely gets better!! I lost 16 pounds in 8 weeks, and I've had my first bandfill today. You'll soon be feeling better, don't regret having it done. Make sure you have soup or some shake every hour, that's what they told me. Good luck.

Wow well done you that's fantastic!!

I went straight to Asda to get those shakes lol I also got a Covent garden soup and it was gorgeous so I'm happy again now smile I think I get really hungry n then can't enjoy anything so go hungry again (if that makes sense) lol

Thank you so much for all your help hun I feel so much better now 😊x

Thank you Joanna for letting me know about those shakes really appreciate it 😊feeling lots better now x

So glad that you're feeling better. keep going and this short phase of discomfort will soon pass. I'm glad I found this site as I've had so much support and info from everyone. Sometimes it's the little things that help the most. 😊😊😊😊

Hi may how has your day of eating been ? X

Hi Vicky sorry for the late reply I couldn't see your comment. I'm really good, so happy now I can have food and not had a single problem so far ive even tried some less puréed foods and just chewed really well. Don't seem to have much restriction though and I'm a bit paranoid I'm eating too much . How are you getting on hun? X

Hi Nat

It's great eating again I'm the same as you I don't have any restriction at the moment.

I have had lasagne chilli jacket potato pasta and all had been fine I have just chewed loads and taken my time.

Are you feeling full?

Only ocasionally do I feel full ive just been stopping when I feel like I'm pushing my luck hahahaha

How about you? I sometimes worry that it's not working properly but I suppose it won't be at its full potential till the fill?

Have you got your 1st fill appointment? X

Lol I'm the same I have had sloppy stuff but was hard having no eggs yesterday

My fill is on the 30th April when is yours ?

What kind of things are you eating ?

Hi Nat,

I've just joined this forum and your post is the first that I have responded to.

I am 9 days post-op and my op went well and no problems.

All I'm having at the moment is soup, Muller light yoghurts,

hot water and fresh ginger has been great for me because it helps me to feel fuller for longer, Asda 'chosen by you' crispbakes with a very light scraping of Philadelphia light spread (they're yummy), for the first time ever I've been craving something sweet so I have been having 'Snack a Jack' rice and corn cakes (crackers), there are a variety of types but the chocolate tasting ones are my favourites.

I had my operation in Belgium and I'm not sure if your Doctor has given you a different list of things you're allowed to eat, but these things are on my list and I haven't had any pain or discomfort eating these things - just eat slowly.

Before the op, I was 17st 7lb and I have weighed myself for the first time today and I have lost 15lbs!!! I am so happy. I know that the weight loss will slow down but right now...yaay biggrin  I think the results outweigh the hunger twinges.

Keep at it Nat, you'll do brilliant.

Bye for now,

Marie.

Hi Marie

Thank you for your post 😊

I'm now 17days post op so I'm a lot happier now I am actually eating 😊ive lost 1st 5lbs since doing my 5days pre op so im pretty chuffed but I think I am in need of my 1st fill as I'm finding I can eat what seems like a lot πŸ˜• and I stop before I feel full but I think that's more for fear of still not having a cut off point.

Only 2st 5lbs to target 😊 x

Hiya 😊

My first fill is on 23rd I'm actually quite worried about it as I'm not having any issues or discomfort and im worried it will change it πŸ˜• I discovered after my op that I actually have 4mls in already (it's a 9ml band) but I'm unsure why as the company I went with don't generally put any in at op stage πŸ˜•

I'm eating all sorts really testing everything out in small doses and chewed really well had a chicken dinner yesterday (granted I didn't have much chicken out of fear) but I eat a lot of mash and mashed veg with gravy. Also had a crumpet and poached egg on half a toasted warburtons thin 😊

Biggest struggle is not drinking before or after eating (never realised how much I did that until now) lol x

Hello,

I'm exactly the same with drinking I drink loads and find that hard!

I'm the same I have had a toast today just no meet and couldn't do carrots I'm eating really well and haven't been sick or felt sick.

4 ml is a lot isn't it I don't think I have any if I do it's 0.5ml. I'm worried about the bad fill just hope it makes me feel less hungry as I could eat a lot at the mo I'm scrambling cheese!!! X
