5 weeks off Citalopram

I was on Citalopram a total of 9 months 6 months of (20mg) , and unfortunately it did not work for me so 5-6 weeks ago was my last dose. I did taper slowly as suggested. I am still having some brain zaps, and vivid dreams, I wonder when the effects should wear off? I know that the medicine is cleared out through my body but the after effects are still there. They started after I quit taking it so I’m pretty sure that is what it’s from. They are not extremely bad or anything but they are there.
Just wondering how long it took anyone else to finally get rid of any side effects of when stopping?

For those of you reading this that are taking it, I just want to say that this post in noway says that Citalopram doesn’t work well it does for many people, my mother and my aunt included, it just didn’t work for me.

Withdrawal effects are different for everyone and may depend on the dose you were on. I have done a bit of reading on this on other sites and some people are lucky and may only have these effects for a few weeks, for others it could take months or years even. The higher the dose the longer it takes apparently. My aunt tapered off 10mg over a few weeks and didn’t have any withdrawal symptoms. I have been reducing for about 5 months and am getting lots of withdrawal symptoms, brain zaps and vivid dreams are just two of mine. Best of luck!
