Hi everyone, well I am 5 weeks today post LTHR and have just got back from seeing the physio-terrorist (oops did I say that lol) . On the whole he was very pleased with me, but did say that last week with what happened (in and out of taxis and stress over Alan) it has probabl set me back around 2 weeks but he's not bothered by it. Anyway I now have a walking stick, have to use it round the house until I get used to it and use my crutch outside. He has given me the same excersises to do as the last fortnight but tying a piece of latex round my leg and furniture to make them harder (makes you stretch abit more.) Also to continue with the crouching excercise and the walking. I am feeling very confident in myself now and really feel I am progressing to do things I haven't done in months. I filled the washer this morning and then carried the washing into the garden and pegged it out. I also did a bit of weeding but only the tall ones I could reach without bending too far. At least I feel I Have achieved something. I cooked a fish souffle for dinner last night too. The sun helps too, it's been a lovely hot day here in Kings Lynn, yesterday we went to Sandringham and had a lovely lunch and wandered through the park. It was lovely. Sorry to all those who think I am blowing my own trumpet, maybe I am, but for all those who are still waiting for the operation, you have everything to look forward to, the future is bright.......... Love to all on this lovely forum Gill xx

Blow a nice tune then Gill, you're doing great and that can be heard!
Way to go and keep at it!!!
Hugs
Well done you, great and inspiring progress!
Hi Gillcat
I don't see it as blowing your own trumpet even if I am stuck in the slow lane.
You go girl. Make the most of it. I am so glad it is all going so well for you. I know I will catch up in a few months. After what you have been through I am glad it has not affected you that much which is great news. Keep going x
I went this afternoon for follow up, very happy can use walking sticks if I want, still got to stick to the 90 degree rule for another 6 weeks but if I need to bend further then put the leg behind me, also going to arrange appointment for 3 months time to get me put on to the list for next hip op, so looking at a 9 month wait in all.as for going back to work advised waiting another 4 to 6 weeks till I am clear of the 90 degree rule, sorry to repeat myself. I am will try doing kneeling down over the weekend
Should also add don't need any physio walking is best.
hold on to work surface in the kitchen and with feet apart lower yourself down slightlybending your knees not too far and back up again 10 times.
sounds like you are on the serious road to recovery!!! and may it continue..... you deserve to blow your own trumpet!
best wishes to you both. x
Dear Gill ....
you are so cute !!!! I just love reading your posts ... toot as much as you want ... it is inspiring, uplifting and encouraging ... I will try the crouching exercises too ... slowly as my back muscles are so tight ....
blessings to both of you ...

renee
Thanks for sharing! XXX
Well I think you are doing really well I saw the surgeon to day he is happy but still got to the 90 degree rule for another six weeks but I can lay on my sides and also try walking without the sticks outside but he would be happy for me to use a stick if I feel I need it, and I have got to go see him 3 months and get my name on the waiting list for the other hip to be done xxx
Gill, I am so happy for you...I am progressing as well as youand I will write here to tell everyone what I can do now. While I was waiting for this op I used to read all the succesful stories and they were such a help for me! There is light in the end of the tunnel!
Lots of love
Ella

On the countdown....5 days to go.
Congratulations and wishing you ongoing progress.
Hi Gill,
well that all sounds very positive, great news on the washing! I can't remember the last time I pegged out lol excuse the pun, glad you have the good weather down there, all we have is rain!! but I still managed a drive to the store today sespite the awful pain, anyway keep up the good work, well done you,

Hi Gill,
Why shouldn't you blow your own trumpet - we all deserve to, don't we?!
You're only a day ahead of me but you're doing much better. I still find trying to go without my one crutch very painful, but I keep trying around the house.
I was given those elastic bands to use before my op, so I'm using them again. Makes it much harder to do the leg stretch exercises. So it must be working!
Keep enjoying your life!
