hey all. suffered a trimalleolar fracture and dialocation 2nd day into my holiday in kefalonia. bloody nightmare as i have never broken anything before. it has sure been a journey so far!! and not a pleasurable one at that. i am counting down the days 19!! for my next assessment with a hope that the surgeon is happy with progress to put me in a walking boot. my worry is that i am due to go om holiday again 21 september and am worried about the whole thing especially if i am still not fully weight bearing. i think i am so fearful because the injury happened abroad. any guidance or advice appreciated.
hey there, sorry to hear about your fracture. Not similar to your fracture but I broke my femur abroad (Philippines) last Dec and had the ORIF surgery there too. I went home by plane after 9 days in hospital with a safe-to-travel medical cert by the doc there. Fast forward to 7 and a half months now, I am allowed full-weight bearing. I still did quite a few travelling here and there during the recovery period, with crutches lol Just remember to always utilize the wheelchair service at the airport to avoid long walking. I was very must grateful for that. Wish you speedy recovery!
Thanks for the info and glad to hear you are well and truly on the mend ouch! I am very nervous about whole thing to be honest but yes i will use the special assistance at the airports as they really are a great help having had to use them on our return journey from Kefalonia.
