Hi again. I'm now 6.3 weeks' post revision and getting on quite well. I still have some pain but am coping. I've been feeling that my hip and leg muscles are very weak (naturally after such a long time of inactivity) and also my back has been really bad after having to sleep on it for so long. So, On Friday I joined a Fitness Centre with the idea of using the pool to do some exercise and maybe at a later date using some of the equipment. Today I went for the first time. They have a warm pool which is only 1.2m deep so I just walked around it and did some of my physio exercises. I tried gently floating with my legs behind and kicking a bit too. It was so lovely to be in the pool and weighless - I was walking normally!! Getting out was a different matter though cos everything felt so heavy as I climbed up the steps to the side. I'm feeling quite tired now but am determined to get my muscle strenght back and get fit again so I'll be back again on Wednesday.
I have to add though that it's a bit difficult walking around a wet changing area with a crutch and I was very wary of slipping so took it very, very carefully. The staff were great though and very helpful. I'll just have to remember to leave my clothes and towel nearer to the pool entrance next time as this time I left them in a locker a long way away and had a lot of wary walking to do.
I'm also glad to be able to sleep on my side again now. I do find it quite painful on the operated side but have bought a bolster which I get my good leg over and then hug the bolster to me which gives support all down my front. So far it's been very comfortable though my husband says it feels like a third person in bed with us!!!
Progress is being made though and that's the main thing.
