Hello It's 6 days since I had the Halo operation now and things finally seem to be getting a little less painful. I do have an area of pain, close to the exit of my bottom, but internal. It feels like a pile that's sore and I'm hoping it's a thrombosed pile caused by the stitches, which is what can happen according to my surgeon. I'm getting some bleeding on opening my bowels, but nothing like the amount I'd lose prior to the op. I'm praying that stays that way. I'm worried about a clear liquid that keeps leaking out when I pass gas, or when I get a spasm. I don't know if its bath water that comes out or some sort of bodily fluid. It doesn't smell (much) and there's only a droplet or two at a time. Does anybody have any ideas of this can be related to the pain?
Mild and minor incontinence (temporary) is normal. This “leakage” tends to subside after some weeks/months, as the area heals. I still have it very occasionally now - 5 months later.
Thanks for the reply Jane.
I’ve ruled out bath water and have realised the pain eases slightly when the liquid leaks. I’m assuming it’s some sort of swelling from the op that’s leaking, like a blister or abcess. Hopefully it’ll stop soon.
Hi, I was told by the surgeon that I shouldn’t take baths for the first few weeks, showers only. Best way to clean up is to sit over the bath and ‘hose’ down the area with a shower head(obviously pointing upwards(. that way you will wash way the dirt and get relief to the area with warm water. Then pat it gently dry and that should help.
