Hi Hippies, and Catrin,
Thanks Catrin for your 'short and often' excercising idea for getting my bending better - but your physio sounds very tough! As some hippies said, not everyone is healing as fast as me, tho you seem to be healing twice as fast!
No one has come back on their dreams once they are 6-9 months recovered, and would love to know. Paris? Bird walk in Cyprus or holland? And any advice on an EASY stretch of the Cornall coastal walk for me would be very helpful!
Bye all - wimbledon beckons, but why no Andy Murray?

No specific place but I long to be able to decide to walk somewhere without having to think about how far etc. also to be able to walk limp less without concentration.
Haha Mic I'm not sure about twice as fast as you but yes it's mainly all good. At first (at 3 weeks) I thought the physio was a bully BUT then I thought he has done this more often than me so listen to him. It's been a tough "journey but now at 19 weeks I feel - powerful. The only way I can describe it. ISO didn't want the surgery but I'm now so glad I had it. We went to the ballet last night in the West End. I couldn't have contemplated doing that six months ago then I couldn't walk to the end of the street.
I can't help on the Cornwall walks front I'm afraid. Although raised in rural North Wales I have spent my adult life as an urban dweller and intend to stay one.
Happy healing Mic it's been an inspiration reading some of your posts

Hi Mic ... I have one more THR to go :-) and then ...... who knows - right now I am with maggie ... just being able to walk and keep up with my friends - without limp or pain - Holland and certainly where I live right now, is bicycle paradise ... however, have not rode a bike for 35 years ... (Los Ageles= not too bike friendly), I am looking forward to riding a bicycle again ... maybe an E-bike ???
sorry about Murray - maybe next time huh?
Hey Catrin,
good to hear from you. I like the idea of your physio, getting those muscles healed, and tough love! But, from the slightly sharp replies this morning, not everyone is ready for this sort of regime I guess. My confusion is that my physio didn't offer any physio, but implied you were wimpish if you didn't /couldn't walk 10 miles after 6 months post op! It takes all sorts!!
so, you've gone from a rural girl to a townie: don't you miss the red kites, cliffs, climbing Tregoran, and pubs in the middle of no where?
I imagine you ditched the TEDS stockings in favour of high heels and tights then?!
Have a nice if stormy wet day
mic
xx
I think that we all heal differently and it depends on where we were prior to the op and even prior to lur problems starting. I have always pushed myself and no different now. Also I DID NOT want to put on weight as vanity is my middle name so I was ultra careful about what I ate and did my exercise from day one. The upside is I lost over half a stone!! The physio told me the first time I saw him that all he hardware in my hip was embedded within half an hour of the operation and he was encouraging (pushy) from then on. Wouldn't suit everyone though. I love the feeling of having a powerful body again and next week I start Pilates classes run by the physio as he deemed me suitable. Onward and all that.
Cant it do high heels though lol. No I don't miss any of that stuff couldn't wait to leave at 18 and would never go back to live. Would miss the shops too much.
Take care

Hi Catrin
Good to hear from you...and i think you are advocating retail therapy for recovery.
Funny cos my last time in London I got seduced by Reiss...gorgeous sweater and swim trunks. So maybe your coach helped...but shopping was the secret cure!

PS. Imagine you suelve size 12 now!
I love Reiss. Not so great now - see my new post.
Hi Renee.
Ive not been on here for a while,a sign I've almost fully recovered at 6 months post op.
On the static bike..it's the best thing I ever bought..started off very slowly back in May just doing 15mins every other day,and now improved to 25k in 1 hour at double the difficulty level and burns 1k calories.
It is IMO the best physio there is,it makes you feel healthier and its claimed it boosts the immune system as well?
Once I feel confident I'll venture out on the road, but still scared of falling off and damaging my new hips.
Hi Paulus --- that is a good sign !!!! I go to the gym of Physical Therapy clinic and ride the stationary bike twice a week for 10-15 minutes ... my PT works 2 days in that clinic and wants to be there to monitor me, just in case -
if I would have one at home I think I would probably use it every day ..
keep on cycling !!! where do you live?
big hug
renee
Hi Paulus, Renee,
Cycling -ta, will use static bike at gym today, maybe even a SPIN class!
