Been a while since I have posted but in the early days this forum was a great help in getting help for this that and the other.
Anyways, on the 29th it will be 6 months since a TLHR and life is not back to normal but is way better than that. I felt I should post as yesterday I walked for most of the day and only realised I had no pain when somebody asked me.
It's not been all plain sailing with weird pains here and there and a dose of the grumps but sharing my feelings on here helped so much.
So If you are due the op shortly just to recommend that you use these forums for any issues and mostly to listen to your body. If you are tired, REST. If it hurts, REST. If it still hurts, ASK somebody.
Good luck and thanks to all for the help in getting me to six months
It's also been a long tough road for me,especially the 1st 8-12wks.
Still have the occasional aches but all in all 100% improvement..
Thanks to our contributors the main lesson I learnt is everyone heals at a different rate, and to have patience and see things long term.
I now need my other hip replacing, but with what I've learnt from the first op I know what to expect, which for me makes it a little less daunting..just hope it turns out as good as the first..Hmmmm.
Its great to hear such a positive report......I thinbnk more people should come on to help others with their "good" stories........not just disappear of the face of the earth
Hi. Really glad to hear you're doing so well. I remember you posting when I first joined this site. I am now three months on and can honestly say I've had the easiest convalescence of any operation I've had (and I've had a few). After six weeks partial weight bearing on crutches I ditched them after my check up and have not looked back since. Am walking as I did before all the pain started, taking my dog out for two hour walks, doing the housework and all the gardening and really enjoying being back to normal again. Apart from the odd twinges and aches when I've stupidly overdone it I couldn't be better. Skilled surgeon, relative fitness and fabulous summer and it all came together beautifully. I hope all fellow hippies do as well as we both seem to have done. Good luck for the future and no more pain!
Hi Kev...glad you've done so well....I've posted my very positive story too on different threads...It still amazes me how easy it all was really...now I don't even think about it!!
Will probably need the other one doing at some point but hopefully not for a while!!
I agree with you in how much sharing on here helps! Wonderful people who help us not feel so alone and can help clear up seeming mysteries about the course our healing can take at times. So glad to hear you are doing well!
