6 months PO RTHR

I am 6 months PO and I have returned to playing hockey every week.  My right hip feels great!  The bad news now my left hip needs replaced.  I schedule an appointment with my Doc for the end of July, but I will wait till the end of Dec to have the surgery.  In the mean time I will have to have two surgery on my hands due to trigger fingers.  Whoever said hard work will not kill you, should have mentioned it will hurt you....haha.  I can't wait for next July to be totally pain free!!!!

Great John but I was warned about running because the impact reduces the life if the prosthesis. I gave mine a hard time with weights carried during lots of building and walking on steep slopes ad roofs but no running and it lasted me twenty years.

Cheers Richard

Skating is very easy on the hip.  My surgeon is on my team and has given me the ok to play.

Congratulations John on your return to hockey! I too will need both hips replaced. How did you cope with rehab if your so-called "good hip" was not feeling so good?

Hello John

I read it as hockey and in the UK it involves a lot of running!

Cheers Richard

A lot of people in the US only think of ice hockey and not field hockey.

Anne,

I did all my rehab on my own at my house.  My so called good hip was not at the point where it was painful until lately.

Skating with your surgeon sounds perfect! He can keep an eye on you....
