Overall a very positive experience, started playing golf after 4 months, now walking and playing rather than using a buggy. Played 6 rounds in 8 days without any issues.
Doc at 6 Mth check very happy.
Believe the key areas are:
1. Positive attitude
2. Good surgeon
3. Good Physio
4. Exercises every day - still doing them
5. Don't listen to those that have not experienced it
6. Ice packs at least 3 times a day until no swelling
7. Lots of swimming
Great news! Good key points. Agree! And exercise continues is important.
I found water exercises and swimming really key for my rehab.
😊😀
Oh it's such a joy and relief to learn of someone out there who is happy with their TKR! I'm waiting for a left TKR and so far on here I've only read about doom and gloom, which is very disconcerting.
I feel very positive about my surgeon, he's a lovely man and I'm sure he'll do a good job. All the key areas you mentioned I'm sure are the answer to success, the only one I'm worried about is the Good physio. When I had my new left hip, I only had one session with a physiotherapist and I'm sure this slowed my progress down. Also, I'm not sure whether I'll be able to continue my cycling afterwards, however, I am optimistic and after reading your report I feel so much better.
I hope you continue to make amazing progress and enjoy your golf!! 😃👍⛳️
Thank you for the encouragement!
There are a lot of positive posts too! Go to main knee menu and scroll down the page numbers! Lots of positive reports to be found, normally after the three month mark! ☺
I'm sure you will do well with
Physio. My therapist told me
that the hips require far less
therapy than the knees, but
have more restrictions in the
beginning. The knees carry
more of our body weight, so
takes longer to recover.
Staying positive & motivated
During the post-op period is a
huge help. And meds and ice
packs. Lol. Looking forward to hearing from you in the weeks
following your surgery. Good
Luck!
