I have my 6 week check next week and really hoping all restrictions are lifted as I'd like to work on really strengthening my leg before returning to my sit down job. My leg still feels weak and occasionally I feel I need to use one stick. Those that work how have you managed if you're doing a desk job? I'm worried that going back to work and sitting for 7 plus hours won't do my hip any good just yet.
HAve reache dthe point where I ealize how weak tha tleg is, six weeks out. If you can at work try and get up periodically and walk a bit, I fidn this helps keep the stiffness out of my hip. Good luck and keep us updated.
Hi Steph, I was sitting down working between operations, getting to work, and getting back to normal is part of the healing process, just get up more dont sit in one place for the whole time, take a few breaks, and just tell the boss you will do what you can, I wonder what it is you do?
Looking forward to hearing more from you Ian.
Hi Steph,
greetings" hope the replies below are useful.
I work as aCounsellor, and sitting down for 50 min in practice with a client is fine, but is my maximum. What ever i'm doing, i try to get up and walk round at 50 mins, ideally 40, flexing and relaxing knmees and hips as I walk.
going too and from work i guess you'll be almost stick free, tho i found for 6-10 weeks recovering , a stick the en route did alert people very well to my recovery, and i got bus and tube seats offered all the time. Meanwhile, I got into shape thru swimming and gym, so got clear of sticks/crutches by 10 weeks
good luck

Hi Steph,
I went back to work after 6 weeks & although I only work 2 days it is mostly sitting down. I would say just make sure that your chair is the right height. If it's a swivel chair just be careful how you get in and out of it as it's very easy to twist without realising.
If you can stand up every so often & do gentle exercises or you may findyourself stiffening up.
Just take care , look after your new hip.
The chief thing is to make sure you move, if only for a couple of minutes every half hour or so. Stand stretch walk a bit. Also make sure chair, desk IT equipment etc is all at right height and placed within easy reach
Hi steph, I have just started back to work in an office too on a phased return basis. If I sit too long I get stiff so if you can, or you remember to, get up for a wander even if it is just to the water cooler or to the kitchen to make a cup of tea! Good luck x
