Hi Everyone
Well I went for my 6 week check up and surgeon was very happy with my recovery.
I thanked him for his excellent work and for giving me back my life.
I then told him I had made a list of questions.
He said thats great shoot let me hear them.
He stopped me and said well first before we go through them I will say NO RESTRICTIONS I was like really WOW ok so i quickly went down my list anyway and he confirmed his No restrictions.
He said for me to listen to my pain threshold and my body.
He said If it hurts don't do it.
He said I am still healing so to ease back into my normal routine before surgery.
I mentioned to him about 90deg rule and he said its more like respect your new hip more than live by 90deg rule.
He did an xray and said it looked really good eveything is where it should be. Unless I have problems i will see him on anniversary Feb 2017. Woohoo.
I can swim
I can dive
I can drive
I can fly
I can resume sex
I can sleep on my stomach
All of the above are ok as long as it doesn't hurt if it hurts take it easy and I will.
SO there you are yes every surgeon and physio are different.
Looking forward to getting in the pool this weekend and slowly work my way back up to swimming 2-3kilometres every morning.
I am going to have a small drive over the weekend :-)
I will let you all know I go.
Here's to Happy Recovery's for everyone.
Karen xx
Oh Karen That is wonderful news!! I am SO happy for you and it has put a bounce in my step to hear it.
WooHoo indeed

Well done I see my surgeon in 2 weeks and will be 7 and half weeks. I see the physio today who is hoping to take away my crutch, I haven't used them for a couple of days. I to have a list of questions about what I can do for eg mowing the grass, some weeding and other everyday things
I have had a couple of short drives with my husband and was absolutely fine, just a couple of miles. Good luck with your new freedom xx
Thank you Michael
You know its really strange the different opinions from surgeons and physios. This is my surgeons main field and his background backs his knowledge so i trust his judgement and well he has performed alot of these procedures so he should know right?
I will in no way be silly i understand i have had major surgery and it will take time to heal but he says no reason why i cannot start doing my normal things just to be cautious which how can we not lol i know if i turn or move a certain way it lets me know :-)
Anyway i am happy with what he has told me so now i will begin my journey of rebuilding yayyyyy
How are you doing?
Karen
Thank Jill
I am so looking forward to this freedom and new life without that horrible pain :-)
Good luck with yours also and so glad you are driving and finding it easy :-)
I didnt ask about weeding darn it was funny because before i even read him my list he was like you have No Restrictions just be cautious so i will be :-)
Karen
Great news Karen. Your smile must be a mile wide. It's such a great feeling when you get the thumbs up from your surgeon. Keep it up! X
As they say: It's all good in the hood.
The sun is shining and a new day has dawned.
Life is good :-)
I feel we have been travel-buddies on this journey and am really pleased that you have reached this point :-) Onwards and forwards.
FANTASTIC, just 6 weeks, I was expecting a much longer gentle recovery period. That really is very positive.
I'm a 51 year old male, who has a slow loss of hip rotation due to bone growth on my left hip, strangely the X-Ray shows same bone growth (osteophytes) on my right hip, but no loss of movement at all. Except for a terrible limp, I'm in no pain and take no medication, but Dr says it will get worse slowly and I'll need the operation fairly soon. So reading from others that have "gone before", is making me so much less worried about this major operation.
Keep up the exercises and I wish you all the best,
Mark
Whoooohoo
Well done there Karen, back to your ownlife once again.
Best wishes, and look after that hip

Hi Mark
I am 53 i found out 2 yrs ago i had slight OA in both hips. I have gone from walking 3-4 kilometres 3-5 times a week to not being able to walk a block without pain and limping. Thankfully i was able to swim 2-3 kilometres every mirning after i could no longer walk. My swimming really helped me keep fit but sadly i could not live in water lol.
My right hip was causing all the pain. I tried everything prolonging visit to surgeon thinking i was to young. Anyway i saw surgeon in November and he said you will need RHR but you need to decide when it is time when your quality of life is effected. We tried cortizone injection which didnt work. I decided it was time and we booked surgery for Feb 3. I have not looked back and i am so glad i had it done. My recovery was amazing and i am hoping i can get through another 4 yrs to retire before my left hip starts to bother me but time will tell. One thing i csn say is if and when it does happen i eill not hesitate to get it done. Technology is awesome and my surgeon is amazing.
Si if you are in pain and they say you need it done i highly recommend it.
Good luck and feel free to ask questions their are slot of us willing to share our experiences.
Karen
This forum is such a great group effort.
Dear Karen,
Well done, girl !!! I like the way your surgeon said to be respectful of your new hip .instead of putting fear in your mind whenever you move - I can live with that !!!!
Thank you for sharing and celebrate life -
big warm hug
