6 week check up

Evening all, been for my 6 week check up, x ray looks ok,;he's pleased with my wound and as given me the green light for driving, 90° rule to continue for at least another 6 weeks, gave me balancing exercise to do to build up muscle and tone on the operated leg, to help me walk instead of waddle. Physio tomorrow. I feel pleased but know I will probably still have ruf days.

Hi Susan,

Yay you for going along so well!  Yes, physio will be challenging but the worst is over...the surgery.  I hope you continue doing well and healing nicely!

Dawn, USA

Hi Susan

Sounds good...hope recovery goes well over next phase.

Can you put on sox and get up from floor...good milestones as body strengthens. Hope walking gets even n smooth. I did some Alexander technique lessons which helped me here

Can't do my socks yet and darnt even try getting on floor lol. I'm expecting torture tomorrow but it's got to be done so I'll grit my teeth and get on with it x

Well done great news.  Interesting abou the 90 degree rule still ongoing.

No worries...Take it as it comes little by little...healing takes about a year overall x

Hey YOU...well done reaching this stage ..the only way is up...I am going to have some questions for my physio this week.  Have you had any hydrtherapy?

Alice

Nope, this will be my first contact with physiotherapy since my discharge from hospital I don't think it has hydrotherapy facilities it would be great tho

Whooee - it will be nice to be a little less dependent. It will be good to start with PT - I have been working with them pre-surgery and they have been super. It feels good to do something constructive when so much else is restrictive. Hydrotherapy is the FABULOUS - hope you get to do some as it helps tremendously while helping reduce pain.. What's not to like!

That's excellent, Susan. The green light for driving - I can't wait for that!

My six week appt on Wednesday somfingers crossed I get the same good news as you.

Thanks for sharing your good news, it gives us all hope and optimism!

Dawn

Thank you and good luck for weds

That sounds great Susan well done! I cant wait for the 6 week mark and to get rid of the sox.  I am only at the 2 week stage and I am itching to get doing more stuff.  I am so bored as I can't go out much due to the ice and snow so am having people take me to shopping malls where I can walk indoors.  Not good for my bank balance!  Good luck tomorrow x

Susan, thats great did he tell you that you can sleep on your good side with a pillow between your legs, great night sleep.

Well done Susan. It great to get back driving again after 6 weeks. I'm 2 weeks after lthr & had rthr end September last. 4 & half months ago. Cabin fever has set in already. Physio will strengthen your muscles but might make you ache a bit if it's anything like my last physio session which was 4 weeks after my 1st replacement. I'm starting my physio in 29th Feb which is again 4 weeks after surgery but the fact that both hips are done now I don't think I will suffer as much. Keep us posted on ur physio session x

Yes he did but I can't get comfy like ig and end up back on my back with the pillow under my knees

Hi Susan,

cool,  girl ...  What kind of a car do you drive? make sure you get in and out of the car properly - Have your physical therapist show you how or you can watch it on youtube -

My surgeon told me the same re: 90 degree rule at 7 weeks follow up appointment - just to be on the safe side -

Happy independance day !!!!!

big warm hug

renee

Hi Renee fortunately I have an automatic and my operated leg is the left side, tbh I'd not thought about how different it might be getting in the drivers side bad leg first yesterday the battery was flat when I was going to my appt and I had to climb into my husbands vw white works van ! that was an experience I don't want to repeat soon hahaha
