6 week check up 😳

I'm seeing surgeon on Wednesday this week and was wondering what to expect ??? I'm a little worried he might drag my hip about and hurt me 😪. What will he expect from me ??

Hi Bobbie

I past my 6 weeks check up last Wednesday. Do not worry , its sipmle. He/she will ask you a lot of questions...like..do you have any pain, do you still take any painkillers, do you make your exsercises regulary, sre you using one or two crutches outside (inside).....

Then will check your scar is it fine. Will ask you to lift your operated leg standing and stay just on it. Then you'll lie down on the couch to check on contraction leg knee. Nothing scary

Everything was fine with me, but I have to keep 90 degrees restriction for another 6 weeks.

Good luck on Wednesday!

Mine asked me to walk stand on one leg and that was it

He won't touch you - will my surgeon barely glanced at me, he watched me walk, asked a few questions and that was it! Good idea to put together a list of questions before you go as the mind tends to go blank. Six weeks is such a milestone - well done!

Hi Bobbie I didn't even get to see my consultant

On my 7 week check up saw his nurse very

disappointed ,I have another follow up check

up next month guess what a telephone

consultation not happy about this either

as at 16 weeks post still feeling sore, I think after

major surgery you should get to see your

consultant at least once.Happy healing xxx🙌

Thank you that's so reassuring 😅. I can cope with that . Im terrified to move past 90 degrees and think I will be for a very long time 😂

Oh 😳 Not much of a check up 🙄

Oh Rose 😘, thank you , I'll be very happy if he doesn't touch me 😅, I really don't want him to touch me ever again 😅. Yes good idea about writing some questions down , will get thinking cap on 🤔🤔. X thank you X

Ohh gosh Anna 🙁, that's not good , I wouldn't be happy with that at all . Make sure you get to see a good physiotherapist , that is so important 😳.

I had my check up at nearly 7 weeks, and didn't see my consultant, just an underling, who couldn't get rid of me fast enough!! ( They were running v late.) I asked him if my x-ray was ok, and he said it was fine, don't think he'd even looked at it at that point! He asked me how I was feeling , and he looked at my scar which was fine. I had written down some questions, and asked him stuff about sleeping, riding my bike etc. As others have said, it's definitely worth writing things down, then you don't forget what you want to ask. (We also had a big chat about skiing!)

Ummm , a definite theme hear with the 6 week check being very rushed or inadequate in general 😱. I'm wondering what Wednesday will bring for me 🤔🤔. Will keep you all informed 🤗. I'm wanting to know about leg length 😳. It's not nice feeling rushed as though we are non important , like they really don't care 😪😡. As if we haven't been through enough we're made to feel Like an inconvenience too 😪😪.

He will not try to hurt you - he may test how far you can move your leg, he did with mine last week ... he studied my face to see if there was any sign of pain, and he'd have stopped immediately if there was any.

He will probably ask you how you are doing, if you have any worries - best thing to do is write your questions out beforehand, that way you won't forget.  That's what I always do (forget, and write out my questions ).

Graham

Thanks rocketman 😘, I'm a little worried because I have very limited or no abduction movement 🙁. I'm just hoping it's just a time issue 😳. Don't want him to try and move it 😖. An involuntary reaction from my fist comes to mind 👊👊👊😱.

Hi Bobbie glad you agree not good is it,I've

been to chiropodist this afternoon and she told

me I have leg difference and on my un op leg

my foot and knee are rotating out wards this

could be why I'm still feeling uncomfortable

and hip not able to heal properly, so hope

to see GP on Wednesday see what they say.

😱

If you can get referral for physiotherapy that will help you so much 😉. Knee turning out is often so easily sorted out . It's normally caused by tight IT , simple exercises will sort that out . I can't stress enough how important it is to have physiotherpy xx 🙏🏻

Mine saw me a few months ago. I went in, weighed, measured height then straight away to the xray for my hip. Then to a room to wait to see him. He comes in and we talk. He lets me know I have to lose 25 pounds before he will do it and he gave me 60 days to do it. He tells me my hip has to have a total hip replacement that I have osteoarthritis and this isn't going to get better and the only choice is a replacement. He explains what all it involves then he gave me a list of videos and exercises.

My surgery is in 7 days on the 22nd of November and yes I am already nervous.

hi bobbie,

I agree with Rocketman -- he/she will definitely not deliberately hurt you -

I also had xray taken right before I went in - he looked at it, had me watch it with him and said that everything looked great -

then he checked (again) length of both legs and range of motion in operated hip .. he asked me to walk andd this all within 10 minutes !

But I felt as  I had to take an exam and was so please I passed !!

you will be fine

how are you doing otherwise?

big warm hug

renee

Thanks renee 😳, I'm sure you are right , he's not going to deliberately hurt me . Just hope he doesn't accidentally hurt me either . 😳. I'm 5 weeks 4 days now and my knees and playing up more than anything else 😖😖😖, but I know it's all muscular , it takes time . Still early stages really 🤔🤔. Xxxxxxx

well, he might accidently hurt you when he checks your range of motion (if he does that) -- nooo, I am kidding - mine stopped right at the time i wanted to say "ouch"

yes Bobie, early still and entering the 4-7 weeks period - one day you feel so good and will overdo it a bit --- knees are so  involved when we start to learn to walk again - keeping us in balance all the time while we are still so wobbly -

you could warn him beforehand.  I was doing abduction exercises from day one ....... along with knee flexing and bends (up to 90 degrees only).
