So Hippies, I had my appointment today with consultant and they are really pleased with the recovery. Bone is starting to grow on the hip joint and movement has improved greatly. After seeking lots of advice on here about my recovery and due back to work as a nanny after 6 weeks. They have said no another 2 weeks off but as a rule normally 3 months off. Really fed up as they told me initially before my op 6 weeks. I have now had to drop a bomb shell on my employers as they were expecting back to work on Monday 13th April. I felt absolutely awful
The positive thing is I can have a bath!!!!
Sorry for the moan but feel a little deflated...............
Tahnk you for your message. I wish my consultant had told me that then I would have prepared my employees.
I agree I dont want to undo the work, but felt so bad as leaving them in the lurch a bit, out of my control and I dont like it. They have been so good to be I feel like Im throwing back in their faces a bit.
Anyway I suppose I just need to deal with it......Another 2 weeks of ground hog day
Hi there Amanda! Its Amanda here from godalming! Poor you! But at least you can have a bath!I would focus now on getting better! Its a major op! Yesterday we had a social worker here! She is furious with me! For bouncing off the carers! So I am forcing myself to do a lot more!!eg I emptied the commode in my room, then got on and brought down my mugs from last night! Everything the carers do has to be written down! Even to helping me! So from tomorrow night I will prepare my own meal in the microwave! But I will fight for my carers assessment regards Amanda
Hi social service s are annoyed with me for bouncing off Hugh s carers!even to making my bed, helping me to put socks on! So I have now demanded a carers assessment! The general rule is 6 weeks but some things can take months! Esp as I have arthritis in both hips and knees!! Do you ever shop in godalming?regards Amanda
Chin up amanada, i just went back to work and it's not all it used to be..... i'm not a real happy girl and don't really want to discuss it right now, but, please, take the time to heal. We only have one life and we are worth it. Hugs, GInny USA NJ
Well done on your continued improvement and whilst I know it's not the best scenario regarding work, you have to put your health first. I am itching to go back but after all I've been through to get here, I'm not going to let my impatience spoil the hard work I've put in so far to get me where I am.
Im sure your employers will understand and I'm also sure your consultant could have been more clear to you before the surgery. Only those of us who have the anterior procedure have any hope of being back to normal within six weeks. Use this extra time to really get yourself back to full strength and show your consultant that you are ready to return to work.
I totally understand the feelings of guilt..... at pre-op they did tell me a minimum of 6 weeks, and then see how I felt, might be 8 ..... I am an ELL teacher and had a great sub... but there had been a mix-up in scheuling so the last two weeks I was out, my students had no services.... my boss was totally supportive but I felt so guilty... did go back after 6 weeks.... (another week without the canes and PT but no work would have been better, BUT doing fine but am absolutely exhausted by the end of the day .... by Friday I am wiped.... this is week 3 back at school, each day does get better
just be upfront with your employer, they seem to be supportive --- good luck with your continued healing
