Hi all. Had first follow up appointment 2 days ago and must say I felt very anxious prior to it!. Desperately wanting all to be well!! I had an xray which isn't routine at 6 weeks, I was so worried something was going to show up that was negative. The surgeon told me because I have a large " high off set " implant he wanted to make sure there were no fractures to the bone- thankfully there were none! I mentioned the " clunking" sensation which I have experinced on and off since the operation. He wasn't perturbed said that sometimes people experience this but couldn't throw any light on the problem He just said the operation had gone well. I can lose the crutches, drive, use a static bike , but more importantly get back in the pool!! Yay! Front crawl allowed but no breast stroke for Another 6 weeks. I can start the advanced physio exercises and he will see me again in 6 weeks The 90 precautions still apply until 12 weeks post op best wishes to all Annie
Well done Annie, all good news. So I'm now 6 weeks behind you again (operation 7th Jan, came out of hospital today 10th Jan).

Whew, glad all is well! I am sure it isn't pleasant hearing the clunking sounds sometimes, but it must be nice to be reassured that all looks well on the xray. Enjoy your new freedoms, Annie!
Thankiyou 😊
Hi Graham good to know your back at home again. Must be incredibly frustrating. Is it a case of staying positive, watching , waiting and lots of physio to see how you progress ? Annie
yep, that's about the size of it
Dig deep Graham which I'm sure you will, you have the right mind set. I'm here for a good few months yet , so I will be reading up on your progress and hopefully I will still be able to report on my own!! 😁. Best wishes Annie x
Well done Annie I'm 8 weeks and am about to get in the pool in the next couple of days. Going to a spa hotel on Tuesday for a couple of days on Tuesday . I had clunking sound and sensation but now only occasionally. Look after yourself
Annie,
Thanks - I must have been going to bed just as you wrote that - I slept for 15 hours (with those annoying bathroom breaks every 3 hours) - all rested now, and back to my jigsaw puzzles to keep my mind occupied and off any pain.
Not using any pain relief since I exited hospital at 2pm yesterday.

Hi Annie,
Good to know you're doing well. I am due my first check next week which will be 8 weeks. Thought it was normal to have xray to check everything is in place. Haven't been given any exercises will ask next week.
Good luck with the pool.
Regards
Paula (north wales)
Thankyou Ruth. The pool today was wonderful. No pain at all. Fell so good to be in the water and swim. I'm going to swim every day now till back At work on the 4 th March. Hope you enjoyed yr swim as much as I did. . Good to know the clunking settled. Fingers crossed mine will too!!! Best wishes Annie x
Hi Paula apparently normal to have Xray at 12 weeks in my hospital. So I get another in 6weeks! The Royal Berkshire hospital has a good patient information leaflet of exercises post THR. Have a look Google. Swim was the best today. Felt so liberating !!!! Best wishes Annie ( Cheshire)!
