Hello All
For those not having followed, I'm 6 week post LTHR. 3rd after rather awful 1st in 2007, with huge complications, nerve damage etc and 2nd in 2009, no improvement.
3rd, by different Surgeon, 6 weeks ago, has been, so far, a huge success.
Religiously doing exercises and post op consultation with Physio given yet more strenuous exercises, but they're paying off big time. Was advised, also, to halve walks ie do 2x500 yds rather than 1x1,000 yds.
Finding it all v time consuming but it's sooo worth it.
Told by my surgeon after op that my gluteus medius and minimus muscles were detached from bone, so would always limp. Well…wrong.
I'm walking with barely perceptible problems. Granted, it's painful and my right foot still seems to have a mind of its own, so I really have to concentrate, but Physio tells me that will sort itself with walking exercise.
I am so thrilled. Have my mobility back after 8 years. Am determined and this can only get better.
Best wishes to all in your journeys.

keep doing what you are doing, taking it one day at a time - big hug for a job well done !!!
Really pleased for you Elaine. I'm 3 weeks post my first (and hopefully last) thr and although nervous went in fully expecting it to be a total success, which so far it seems to have been. Don't know how I would have handled it if it hadn't been successful and don't think I would have had the courage to have it done again and again! Well done xxx
Elaine so well done, it's wonderful isn't it ter years of paiand then suddenly you know where your going and that there is an end to it.... know I feel le a different person. Carry on the good work xxx
Thanks so much to all for the wonderful encouragement

Well done you!
i really admire your courage. I am one week post op from RLHR and doing very well. I can appreciate how painful your exercises must be, and good on you proving the surgeon wrong.
Good luck, you are a real inspiration x
Congratulations and well done you. ......
Has the nerve damage been corrected?. I have a friend who had a ligature left in, tying off and damagaing the nerve and has a permenant dropped foot...ie trainers for ever.... very fetching with skirts and dresses.....
You must have had to have a lot of courage during a very trying time.
I raise a glass to you !

Thanks Carol. And everyone else. I didn't mention, in the main post, again for those who haven't followed me, the fact that I had first LTHR in October. (After which I developed a blood clot in lung.). So very happy, also, to have just finished mandatory 6 weeks of daily, self-administered blood thinning injections.
All good stuff.
Best wishes to all - pre- and post- x
Ooooh. I'll join you in that!
Still have nerve damage, though symptoms have diminished rather over the years.
Still get bad cramp in calf and foot, plus severe pins and needles, and foot is permanently freezing cold.
Think getting mobile again will mean I can live with the other stuff.
What strikes me is - you know the list of 1:100 risks with the op? Well:
nerve damage - tick
need for revision - tick, twice
blood clot - tick
Wonder what the overall odds of that happening to one person are!!!
😃
Someone somewhere said, about 3% have complications, having all of those is most unfortunate, (like losing the carpet bag!)
Two glasses of bubbly then.... I still think you're a hero!
Hi edarling, So happy to hear your doing so good thats the best news keep up the good work. Im also doing great I had bone graft done and wow what difference.
Scaitic nerve pain is still challenge but we just keep on pushing on !!!
Best of luck
keep in touch
