6 weeks citalopram

Ive now been on citalopram for 6 weeks my anxiety is still very high. I wake up at 4am every single day. Could somebody tell me if things will improve as im worrying i have wasted my time with the medication route. Thanks

Do you have flactuations? of Anxiety? Cus for me I also feel the medication has not been stable. I have been on Effexor XR for 5 weeks now , almost 6 but just 10 days ago I started having some agitation/relestnesness which I did not have before. So its a bit weird after all this time this has come up and it could be that the meds have not settled yet , at least so I hope. The doctor however thinks it takes up to 4 weeks to settle but I think it can not always be the case I think! Again only assumptions as I am not really sure.

I hope it all comes to normal soon for everyone suffering. Its a horrible feeling anxiety and depression!

Thanks

Hi James

I was on Citalopram at the end of 2017 for severe anxiety and panic. I had really bad side effects that included heightened anxiety for a few month and you may be able to see my posts from that time period when I used Citalopram.

I thought they were going to last forever since I had them for weeks and weeks. I was unable to get out of bed most days due to the overwhelming anxiety I experienced. I had plenty of other side effects too although it was hard to tell them apart from my regular symptoms of anxiety.

I always find during times when I have panic attacks that I wake up at 11am each day no matter what. I feel this is when my anxiety peaks and I am trying to figure out the cause for this.

I can tell you now it does improve. The anxiety will diminish and there may be days where it is so overwhelming you will convince yourself it is forever because those panic episodes can feel like forever, but trust me - it gets better!

Always here if you need support man. Message me if you need someone to talk to!

Take care, Kyle

I’am on desvenlaxfaxine for 6 weeks and my anxiety is still somewhat high too. I had to decrease my dosage down from 50 mg to 25 mg. The higher dose was making me too sleepy. I can tell you that I’m taking meclizine for vertigo because I think I just realized my inner ear was causing my anxiety and panic hit hard from hormones. Meclizine can make you somewhat sleepy but, for me it has calmed down my anxiety and I can’t see how it couldn’t help to try for general anxiety. Just a thought but, check to make sure you can take it with what you are taking. It said that with my med it could cause dizziness, confusion, sleepiness but, I tried it. I have nothing to lose and I haven’t experienced any of those side effects. Many take it at night. I take during the day because I"m also, on prednisone a steroid for the inner ear and vertigo which is good for decreasing any inflammation and that keeps me up. So, for me I’m not as drowsy from it because they seem to both balance each other out. I’m not 100 percent yet but, much better than I was. I’ve been dealing with this from peri for over a year and it’s the only thing that has made a significant difference for me and has now given me some hope. xoxo hope you feel better soon! Hang in there. We are all with you!
