I am 43 years old THR right side (rear) 6 weeks post op..... Wanted to share some good news with everyone: Went to surgeon yesterday with a list of questions. Some of them trivial, but some of the most important questions were answered!!! Last night I FINALLY slept on my belly. I can't tell you how good I slept. I still woke up several times due to muscle spasms and stiffness (which he prescribed Flexeril just for night-time), but I woke up refreshed - almost like a new person!!! AND my sister drove me to doctor's and I DROVE HOME!!!!! Yeah me..... Feeling really good right now!
Well done Ginny you have triumphed. It will continue to get even better
Wow Ginny, well done, I am dreaming (pun) of this day.
Oh to sleep on my tummy......
Oh to be able to drive myself again and gain my independence ....
I am 4 wks tomorrow, so nearly there, 2 weeks to go - I can almost smell it lol
Glad you've shared your good news, it helps us and i can feel the joy
I hope so sheila..... Thank you.
Christine, the first sleep on my tummy was like the first shower after surgery...... Thank you.
Mmm I'm still waiting for my first shower too, that will probably be just before I get in my car to drive lol
Wow that's great news. What a lovely feeling for you. I am nearly two weeks post op and feeling good but sleep still not the best so can't wait for that! Xx
We'll done. I'm 7 weeks post op. Been driving for 4 days. Can't sleep on my side yet as the scar feels uncomfortable. Started swimming 2 days ago. Well, walking in the water, walking backwards, using breast stroke for arms but kicking with legs. Felt good to be exercising within the limits
That'sgreat Ginny. I'm Two weeks post op right THR. I really missing being able to sleep on my side. Saying that the scar from my left THR from just before Christmas is still a little tender. It's so nice to get sign off. I was a bit of a rebel last time and had already ditched my compression stockings when I went to see the consultant. He was fine. Hope you continue to progress, you have come a long way!
Yes YAY YOU! So happy for you Ginny! Nothing but clear blue skies ahead. Flexeril is great and I am so happy you had your first great sleep!
Hugs!

Great news Ginny. I've got my 6 week appointment with surgeon next week and I'm counting down the days for a good nights sleep. Does the 90 degree thing end as well? Plus getting these awful socks off!!!!!!!!!!!! So many things to look forward to can't wait! Hope the rest of your recovery goes as well

Good to hear well done. I am now nine weeks and pain free so it has all been worthwhile
Congratulations Ginny. Its great isn't it, to be mobile once again. I am swimming again now and able to do my favourite stroke, the crawl and the backstroke, was never a lover of the breaststroke, so I am happy about that. Onwards and upwards now.
Dear Susan ,
90 degree rule still applies - also putting on shoes is still difficult and he showed me how to do it safely. However, my mom lives with me now and she is happy to help me, thank goodness. Thank you and prayers for your 6 week checkup.....!!!
Glad to hear you're pain free!!! Thank you.
Dear Barbara, I feel the "freedom" beginning to happen. Thank you and wishing you a speedy recovery
Thank you Dawn,
How many more days for you??? Please keep in touch about your recovery. Prayers and good wishes.
Dear Vicki,
Have to admit, i was pretty lucky with my swelling. I ditched the socks after about 14 days. I just couldn't take them. I gained quite a bit of weight since my downfall this past year and my thighs are huge (lol). they just kept falling down and they were more trouble than they were worth. I was very careful though. My scar is also very tender in certain areas, almost like someone punched it and it feels bruised. I am told that will eventually go away. I do not sleep on that side because of that. Wishing you the best recovery ever.
Dear Dawn, Wish I could find a gym that is inexpensive that has a pool. That would be ideal right now. Well wishes.
Dear Linda,
Good sleep will come - promise!
