hi all, new here
i had my opp about 6 weeks ago, all was going fine but now i'm getting pain in my hip and knee. its not coming from the hip it's self seems like the mucles.for some reason when walking outside with shoes hardly any pain or discomfort, i use a stick just for safety. when indoors barefoot i get back pain and hip pain. any ideas
Welcome to this Wonderful Place! You'll find lots of goodwill and helpful advice.
I think this is a fairly common occurrence post/op. To do with your body re-aligning itself to a more normal gait. Your muscles/ligaments etc, as well as having been mucked around during op, are having to wake up and work in a different way.
You could check with GP/Surgeon/Physio, though.
Painkillers?
Personally, if it's pronounced, I'd continue using stick, while you work on walking properly. Aim is to get your posture correct, with heel, toe, heel, toe progress, no matter how slowly at first.
Can take quite a well, depending on individual circumstances and, in my experience, takes lots of concentration at first.
Good luck and prepare for more advice to come from lovely others 😃

Hi boysim34
Welcome to the site.
You will find good feedback from diagnosis, through surgery, and recovery.
I am only at the stage of pre-op, so follow all the posts from all the very helful contributors..
Hi I would think it is just walking flat on your foot, nearly all footware has a heel, and walking barefoot indoors, you wont have that raised portion helping support the root bones, try a nice pair of slippers for indoors, and still use the stick too as it will stop you waddling or walking in the wrong way.
Keep in touch and kind regards Ian.
good morning,
I think Elaine is right about the body re-aligning itself - especially when you start walking unaided and not balanced yet - at least that happened to me -
I know that I am still not balanced and a "sloppy" walker -
You are probably doing and moving more as well and it is easy to overdo it -
do you do your exercizes ?
be gentle with your self - Sounds you are doing great !!!!!
warm hug

God my Bum Aches, i've done well today . according to my phone i have done 11732 steps a distance of 5.45 miles. took a stick with me, sometimes i used it, for a while on the flat i did not. still got that sharp pain in my groin at times when i twist , which i know i should avoid. i would love to have a long hot soak but a bit scared if i get in i won't get out. have to wait till partner is awake. off to see my consultant tomorrow see what he's says. let you know later
ps, ,got lower back ache as well
That's a fair distance. You sure you're not pushing it a bit?
Thats a fair walk don't overdo it or you'll be suffering later... xx
No i'm fine at the mo.to be honest i'm not limping around the house, still stiff when i get up from the chair for the first few steps, other wise ok
