6 weeks today. New hip seems to have settled in nicely - just struggling with the other one!. Was frustrated at the weekend that I was still using 2 sticks outside - so went for it on Monday - walked a mile in the local park with one stick- felt great. Tuesday did the same - suffered a bit for the rest of the day. Yesterday same again - oh boy! Hip and back hurt big time ( in operated side) - took painkillers but still suffered. Obviously pushed things too far - so easy day today. Bits and pieces to do and walking around house and garden only. Booked hair appointment for tomorrow to cheer myself up as well. Sun's shining - wishing you all a good day. X
That should have been pain in unoperated side.
Walking a mike sound a lot to me !
take care

Hi, bit by bit, nice and easy does it. At least you now know how far to push it, so less distance next time and a gradual build up to that level. Well done though, achieving new goals so spirits are high and as you say, sun be shining, enjoy.
Thank you for this. I'm stiff and hurting and lopsided and 5 weeks last Tuesday. Inspired by you I'm going to walk to the shops now,,,
Hiya
Me too l think...not sure if 6 week birthday is today or tomorrow cos I was done on Fri 27 Feb....but either way big hugs to both of us!

Hi I am just over 5 weeks post op! Social services are so annoyed with me! As I am Kent to be helping husband and back to normal! I can't stop crying! It seems to me that there is no help for carers! I have arthritis of both hips and knees! 8 still can't bend to put washing into machine or clean out fridge! Or even put dishwasher on!! Regards Amanda
t surI'm 6 weeks too, yesterday anyway. Last Thursday the hubby took me out for my first shopping trip out. Not sure how far I walked but it must have been a fair distance, albeit slowly. Paid for it Friday and Saturday though so had an easier day on Sunday. That seemed to put it right. I still suffer with lots of stiffness although nothing I could call pain. Got my consultant check up tomorrow and hopefully some of the restrictions will be lifted.
Its a beautiful day here too so going to get myself sat out in the garden. It would be so nice when I go back to work if I could have some colour on my cheeks.
Enjoy this glorious weather fellow hippies and hope you all have have a good recovery day with lots of get well vibes from me! 😊
Shirley I'm 9 wks post op,and though I don't need crutches around the house or short distances I still use 2 crutches for anything over a mile,in fact walked for 3hrs today using both crutches.
I wouldn't feel it's a failure to still be doing this as some folks might think..use them both for as long as you feel the need, don't worry if people ask you why...I used mine outside for 20wks after my previous THR..your own body will let you know when it's safe to walk unaided.imo.
