Hi Terrie. I am 5 mos post op and doing PT for my right hip. THR. I need my left replaced and also have bursitis on that side. Doing PT now my lower back hurts as well. My left has gotten worse. I think it's the bursitis. I hope that's all you have. I will have my next replacement this year.
Evening terrie. Where is your leg hurting? I was diagnosed with bursitis along with tendonitis. Pain everywhere from side of thigh, front of thigh, groin and buttock. Currently am dealing with sensitivity of side of thigh. Just a lite touch bothers me. I have had two steroid injections. It's helping some but not completely. It's been a slow recovery for me. Had my first rhr in July. 3 weeks later I'm having a total hip revision because of a dislocation. It's been hard as I feel I've traded one pain for another. I'm thinking I have scar tissue as all the symptoms I'm having pointed to that. Only thing is massaging and patience. We all heal at different time and all our circumstances are different. Wishing you all the best for a speedy recovery and healing. HUGS 🤗 LD
So sorry to hear you still are in so much pain ...
It is possible that you have overburdened your left leg as compensation for the still weaker right leg ---
At my 6 weeks follow up appointment from 1st RTHR the x-ray showed that cartilage in left hip had gone down from mild to severe within 6 months and needed HR surgery ... I was absolutely shocked !!
Also could be Bursitis - I was diagnosed with trochanteric bursitis (goodness !) and did not get the cortisone injection - for some reason surgeon wanted to wait 6 weeks and told me to ease up on the exercises - I personally had a very bad experience with cortisone injection in elbow (Tendonitis) and prefer not to get one ...
let us know the outcome of your doctor's visit, okay ...
Hi Terrie I am exactly the same, feeling very despondent .... good first 3 weeks then pain has started on my other side groin and hip, hard to sit and sleep at night I'm 5 wks Terrie post op and know how you feel that you want to progress but can't because of the pain! I spoke to the hospital and they said it may be using that hip more pushing more weight through it might be effecting it.... also if my other hip wasn't too good may need replacing! Let me know Terrie what your surgeon says would be really interested to hear and good luck x
Terri my apologies I misread your post. My non operated leg is fine, thanks be to God. I hope you find answers to your situation and get better soon. Linda
Hi, yeah had terrible pain and tendonitis in my non op leg. A steroid injection in the side of my hip helped things along but it took several weeks to get better. Hang on in there and get plenty of rest. 😀👣🛀🛌
Hi Terrie im 7 months after hip replecement and my oposite hip and back hurting. Before hip replecmant you try compnsite the sore hip and put the most weight on healthy hip and even after operation you do same and
you not even release. I had the cortisone injection about 6 months before operation it helped me just for a 2 weeks and pain comeback. Than I had
hip replacement. When I went for check up after 5 and 1/2 weeks doctor told me my opsite hip need to be replaced as well. Hopefully soon . Don't be depressed the injection could work for you well. You are only 6 weeks
and your hip still heeling also your body getting used to new hip. All will
Hi, well I guess I am going to have to wait to see if this injection works, it takes up to a week for the full affect
However the surgeon informed me that I will eventually need my left leg done as well, needless to say I was just shocked to hear that .
When I talk to him the first time about my right leg he said it would be at least 2 years before I needed the left one, he wanted me to have it done in August, which I really just can't bear that pain again, to many hic ups along my recover with the right leg.
Am praying that this injection will pull me to that at least one year mark the pain is still to fresh in my mind to do this again so soon..so yes still very depressed.
However my right leg seems to be pain free.
Thanks everyone for your support this is a wonderful site for information and insurance that I am.not the only one. .
Morning Terri. Did you get injection in your groin? I remember prior to my hip replacement surgery I was given an injection in groin to help with hip pain. I saw a pain dr who put me under and gave injection in groin. It worked and I was so happy but it was short lived. I hope it works for you!! Linda
