My daughter who's now 6 has constant stomach aches since pancreatitis at 4, we checked amylace and lipase levels and they're fine,several stool cultures that showed nothing but bowl inflammation. She's still eating constantly with stomach aches and nausea and says left side feels weird. Suggestions anyone!
Sounds a lot like crohn's disease which is similar in the symptoms. Have they checked for crohns?
Yes Ashley make appointment with GI doctor directly and demand an mrcp with secretin or an EUS. These are the best tests for pancreatitis. This is exactly how I have felt. I'm quite a bit older and diagnosed with Chronic Pancreatitis. She is so young. Don't mess around. Demand they test for it if you have to. Good luck. Poor dear. It is painful. My tail of my pancreas is bad. Hence the left side pain.
Oh and amylace and lipase don't elevate often once the pancreatitis reaches a more advanced stage. Regular mri don't show anything.
If your daughter does have chronic pancreatitis the Amylase and Lipase can be at normal levels. I currently take Pancrealipase which contains Amylase and Lipase and it helps the pancreas to not have to work as hard.
She's been checked for crohns and many others but it came back negative, it's been year might need to recheck it. She's only had pancreatitis once, and all stool cultures came back negative.
I will,we've never had those tests done before. Do you feel nauseous and tired all the time? It comes and goes with her, but everything always comes back negative since the bad attack.
