My son has been having dizzy spells for the last year or so. He has had lots of tests at the hospital but nothing appears to be coming back with anything. He's had thorough eye tested as well. He can have anything from 10 a day to nothing a day. It's all a bit strange. These episodes last for just a few seconds and nothing else much happens. He says he's dizzy but after discussion he described it as blurry eyes and it's like a picture is jumping around. Any ideas what this could be as they are getting more frequent and concerning for me? He can have them whilst sitting and also when walking. Nothing is consistent when they happen. Help please.
hi Deb.....What tests has he had done??? Did he see an ent or a neuro/ent???? Also...has he seen a neuro optometrist for vertical heterophoria.....It has to do with your eyes.......
Thanks for reply, He has had diabetic test, ecg just a snap shot of that, eeg (head one), hearing test, seen ent and they said not anything to do with ears. Just checked tubes in ear and balance not checked his nose or throat. He has had his eye sight checked and also optometrist for that test.
Gracious. It is hard enough for me to deal with at my age, I hate to hear your young son is having problems. Hope you find some answers for him soon.
I was going to say verticle heterphoria as well. It's a verspecific eye test and most doctors are not able to do it. Make sure that it was done.
hi rock solid...How are you doing??? I have an appt with Dr. this Thursday..........according my the opthalmalogist I am fine........but I am going to see her anyway
Thanks, I'm really lucky as one of my close friends is a specialist optholomogist and has carried out that specific test to check for vertical herterphoria They have said though can do again as getting so frequently now.
Thanks, I'm not usually concerned with things but as time has gone on and the more he's having without answers it is getting me slightly worried. The fact he's so young as well it's hard for him to describe all that's going on when it happens.
Please keep us posted!
Will do, I'm new to this site today, just glad that I've found somewhere to discuss concerns.
i Truly hope they find whats wrong....He is so young....stay on top on it and keep posting
I happen ysto like this site very much...helped me through alot of tough days
Greetings , my name is Freddy A. from Ecuador ..... first of all I want to say that Vertigo is a complicated illness but not terminally ill, is very common in the world that affects all kinds of people. Vertigo has multiple causes and multiple conditions. In my case when I was a child about 6 years old, doctors detected vertigo caused by middle ear problems , I had migraines often. Episodes of vertigo are repeated throughout my life , these are cycles where some time I'm completely normal and sometimes I suffer vertigo.
I recommend that you go where a neurologist and an otolaryngologist to diagnose the problem and help your child as soon as possible.
It is very difficult for parents to see their child suffer but you must be strong
so as not afflict more your son
Update on my son, sorry not been on for ages. I have been back to hospital and consultant still had no clue after all the investigations and results. So he has now seen a second consultant for 2nd opinion. When we were there he asked my son to draw what he sees when he gets these 'dizzy spells'. He couldn't draw the picture at the time but has since drawn lots of little squares. He is also now saying that the area at back of top part of ear gets nippy and twitchy. Sometimes it wakes him. He also gets a sore head at times. Just wondering if any one else has had problems with ears and the dizziness? They are suggesting an eeg over night and or a 3/4 day stay in hospital to get more people to see when he has this. They want me to try video but it last seconds that I can't get it recorded. All very strange and just want answers. Any information and help appreciated.
