Yesterday a 6 mm stone was observed through ultrasound scan just above the bladder in the ureter of my mom.
She is 53 years old.
What should we do ?
Will the stone fall on its own ?
This is a question only your doctors can answer I'm afraid as they will have the means to tell if the stone is too big to come out by itself. I'm not a doctor or medically trained by the way! I've had a 1cm stone which had to be lasered at Xmas/New Year time this year and previously I had 2 x 9mm stones both stuck in same tube which also had to be lasered.
My query is - are everybody's ureters the same size; and how do they know what is too big unless they have measured the diameter of your tubes?!
It's a mystery to me!
My advice is to ask a surgeon who operates regularly on trapped kidney stones.

Ps forgot to say that if she can have it; diclofenac sodium suppositories are wonderful for relieving the pain of renal colic I found.

Kidney stones and the Dr's that go along g with them are so frustrating. I have had a kidney stone stuck in my uterer just outside my kidney for 2 months now and have a stent in place as we speak I has a lithotripsy 3 weeks ago and am waiting for my second surgery. Mine started out as 10mm and then broke to 6mm after surgery however it is not passing. I have taken tramadol, vicodin 10mg, toradol, ib 800, bladder spasm pills, Flomax Tylenol 3 and 4 and nothing has helped the pain. I have been to Er 5 times in last 2 months where I got some relief from morphine and diluded. My urologist and her staff act annoyed with me when I call for answers. It is very frustrating and I would change Dr if I wasn't in the middle of all of this mess. The pain I believe is from the stent. Horrible horrible pain. I can't hardly walk let alone work and I am a nurse! Pt care should be number one but I feel in this case it is hopeless. Have these professionals never had a Pt experience pain from a stent before to this extreme? I am not over reacting by any means it is so damn frustrating!
Did you try home remedies and herbs as well ?
My stent was horrific to, even getting up to go to toilet was traumatising, ended up in a wheel chair if we had to go anywhere that involved any more then few steps
Worst 8 weeks of my life, the stent hurt more then the renal colic and stone pain did in the first place
Soon as it was removed within 24hrs I was bk to normal
Well for 9 weeks and now I've grown more Sodding stones!
Honestly I dont know if home remidies will work in this case. I did take a shot of apple cider vin and olive oil once but that was to much yuck! I am having surgery tommorow, just got the call. Unfortunatly I wont feel the relief from it being taken out due to general anistisia. They will take this one out and go up and take stones out and then put another stent. I am just beside myself

I had first stent for 6 weeks b cause stone was blocking me going to loo, then operation to have stones blasted then another stent , the second stent they attached to my leg and that came out after 3 weeks
Hope all goes well, all I can say it's the diclofenic suppositories we're good topped up with codine and I also had diazepam and buscopan for the spasams and pain the stent caused

So I had my surgery yesterday and they were able to take the stent out broke the stone up extracted it and placed new stent. I am still feeling pain but nothing like before. Dr said my first stent had crept put of the kidney and moved down which was probably why I was in excruciating pain before. I am hoping this did the job. I get this stent out Monday thank God.
Glad it went well and that you are feeling better! At least with this complaint - whilst awful during the time it takes to sort it - there is at least a point to look forward to at the end of it all!

I remember my uncle had stone in urine passage and he was asked to undergo operation by the doctors, but he refused and had 1 glass of banana stem juice with little salt everyday in empty stomach for a month. After he scanned and noticed the stone vanished. Doctor itself appreciated his effort. He knows herbal treatment.
