6month check up

hi all. I haven't been on here for a while so I hope you are doing ok. I had my THR on 5th Feb & due to see my surgeon tomorrow for a check up. I am hoping to get answers to all the questions I want to ask, but my mind has gone blank! What do I need to ask him apart from are all my restrictions lifted? Any advice will be gratefully received.x

Hi Val

Well, I'm going to see my consultant in 2 weeks, and one key thing I want to ask him is what he thinks about my OTHER hip (from x-rays) ..... just so I have a forward view ...

good luck, hope you get the all-clear on everything

Neil

Hi Neil

that is one I need to ask as I've started getting pain in the other one too. I'm supposed to have an x-Ray before I see him so that will hopefully see what's going on. I'm hoping it's nothing & I can't bear the thought of going through another couple of years of pain.

Hope you get the all clear too

are all I can think of at the moment that I would ask.

Write it all down and take it with you   Take someone with you. Two heads are better than one.

Good luck. Let us know how you get on

Hi Val,

Welcome back ....

How are you doing? I don;t have an answer - I am assuming that you had your first follow up visit around 6- 8 weeks post op - are there still restrictions you have to adhere to? I had my follow up visit 7 weeks post op - an xray was taken before I saw my surgeon - Right hip's hardware etc, was good and healing nicely - nowever, left hip showed a rapid decline of cartilage and in need of THR ... was a real shock to me ... thanks to the wonderful people here on this forum, I found that many of us are going in for their 2nd one - a new batch but now 2nd time around hippies - and all within a rather short time after first THR .. I thought I was an exception !!!!

And take someone with you ...

Wishing you a good night and let us know how you are going on ..

warm hug

I wrote a list and it mainly related to my previous activities....

lifting

twisting

running, cycling, swimming, skiing

got a card for airports

good luck 🌈💌

Thanks for your help everyone. I have written everything down & my partner is coming with me. I`m having an xray first if everything goes to plan. When I went for my 7week check up I only saw the ward doctor & apart from being given the ok to drive was a complete waste of time.

I`m now getting quite a lot of pain in my other hip & dreading being told I will need that doing.

I flew Heathrow to Los Angeles at 15 weeks & had a complete bodysearch at Heathrow so I will definately be asking about the card.

Thanks everyone, I will update you later.
