Hi there. I'm 6 nearly 7 weeks post full abdominal hysterectomy (ovaries left). I still have days of overwhelming fatigue, still have a sore tummy by evening and I am still spotting. I was on prostap b4 the op for 5 months to reduce size of my fibroid (it was massive and the op was a very challenging one). I had hoped my ovaries would start to normalise. Hot flushes almost disappeared for a month post op and now they are back and disturbing my sleep. Was I too optimistic? What should I be expecting by this stage? Any advice welcome.
Hi Sally, im almost 9 weeks post op, full abdominal and everything gone.stomach pain lasts for ages im afraid, I still have it and from what I hear will do for a while yet.
even tho its not a sharp pain its a dull pull like pain.
fatigue yep!, that too.im shattered doing anything
my spotting stopped around 4 or 5 weeks but my fibroids were smaller than yours so I guess spotting is to be expected, check with your gp if unsure tho..
with your overies being left I guess your hormones should sort themself out but it may take a few weeks yet.
happy recovery. But listen to what your body tells you, rest still as much as possible
Cheers Luisa. It does help to hear from others going through this. The whole "when should I be going back to work?" thing is constantly at the back of my mind. Most people I speak to say 12 weeks but of course every person is individual. I'm a primary school teacher so know I have to be right before I can manage a full day on my feet in the classroom. Thanks again and good luck with your recovery too.
Im due back to work on the 20th.thst woukd be 10 weeks for me.doctr said reduced hours at first, so doing half days for 10 days. Not 100% confident going back, head ready, body not so sure but need to try.
My work very good, i work for NHS so know I they will be supportive
