I had a thr on my rt hip 7 days ago and have been pain free other than feeling like I have a bruise on the side of my hip. I was only in the hospital 2 nights. The 2nd night I noticed that my opposite hip started going numb from my hip to my knee. I told the nurse and she said it could be a sleepy nerve or pinched because of being placed on that side for the
surgery...makes sense. Then the second morning at home, I woke up and a wierd feeling came up from the back of my rt hip and traveled across my lower back to my other hip. It was an odd kind of feeling and somewhat
painful. So I took my pain meds and went back to sleep.
Since then I've had a bad burning sensation on the outside of my left/good hip whenever I get in bed and it last anywhere from 30 mins to 1.5 hrs. Has anyone else had this and if so what can I do to get rid of it?
Michelle
I am 7 days out as well. Had my left hip replaced. Operation was done using the anterior
Approach. I have some pain at wound site and in thigh. Best described
As tingling /burning sensation that comes and goes. My good hip has had no pain from the operation.
Mine was an outpatient procedure. The pain I experience today is a walk in the park compared to presurgery.
Let's continue to compare notes in the coming days/weeks.
Take care
Hi Michelle, i am 9 weeks post op and had the very same thing happen to me, i still have the painful numbness from my hip down to my knee on the opposite site to the replcement. My surgeon told me the same its from the pressure of lying on that side throughout the OP. Just have to wait and see if the nerve ends settle back down.Hope all goes well for you.
hi michelle,
It sounds plausible, doesn't it ...
not sure about the burning sensation though ... To get peace of mind I would call surgeon or GP ....
how are you getting on otherwise?
big warm hug
