I have my endoscopy next Friday and after talking to the specialist they said I can use zantac but not lansoprazole until after the scope. How many can I take in a day. I have the off the shelf 75mg ones. Shall I just take what evers needed to get me through. Im being sedated for the procedure. Does this knock you out completely? I'm nervous
I’m not sure about the Zantac question, I would ask a pharmacist. But the endoscopy, I just had one done this month and I didn’t remember anything during, it felt like I was completely out.

I don't know the answer to the Zantac question, maybe follow advice on packet?
The sedation does not knock you out completely as you need your swallowing reflex for the procedure but is does make you a bit drowsy and help with anxiety, wears off within an hour or so and then for next 12 hours you may feel sleepy.

You could take 4a day of that strength Zantac and no sedation doesn't knock you out in fact it did very little for me so I asked you more to be given and they agreed and found it better second time I had it done
And Gaviscon after meals and bed time
Cant answer about Zantac although when I had second endoscopy I was taking all the meds (including ppi) the night before the endoscopy. I was given 'light sedation'...knocked me out completely . I was kept at the hospital for 3 hours after (in case I vomited from the sedation) and told not to drive home. The sedation was through i.v and anesthetist doing it. I live in the Middle East so things might be different here ( more invasive and OTT treatments than perhaps necessary)
I phoned up the hospital. Apparently the sedation isn't to put you to sleep but to relax you. It's by IV. How drugged does it get you, as I'm getting more worried now

As I said in my earlier reply they give you enough sedation so you are in la la land but you do need to swallow for them during the procedure. If they knock you out it could prove fatal. Don't worry it will be over before you know it and having a cup of tea.
For your info my nurse daughter is a se ior nurse in an endoscopy suite in a major uk hospital, also I have had 4 done. It is very routine!!😊
I know in the US I felt like I was completely out. I don’t remember any of it at all and when I came to it felt like they had woke me up.
Thanks for all reassuring me. Up until tonight the zantac had done a great job. Bit belchy tonight. Probably the stress I've felt today has made it worse.
I'm struggling today. Can I take more than 4 zantac a day to get me to Friday?
sorry dont think you can do that bUT HAVE GAVISCON AFTER MEALS AND AT BED TIME
i took 5 yesterday but doing a lot better today. just want friday over and done with
scared about tomorrow. just hope sedation works well

well i had it done. really nothing to worry about. took about 5 mins. i have lax les and told to try and eat small portions. i had two amounts of sedation and it did absolutely nothing. still fine though
so pleased for did they tell you anything ?
