7 months post hip replacement and still have groin pain. Any advice?

7 months ago I tripped in the garden and broke my hip. I am 59 years old. Having had physio for the past 5 months, I still have the groin pain on walking or lifting my left leg in any direction. Strong pain meds only seem to take the edge off, but the pain remains. Ive had a DEXA scan to make sure it is not osteoporosis. Ive had an xray which is all clear. What is causing the groin pain, please can anyone help?

I had a total hip replacement (anterior) almost 5 months ago. My upper thigh and groin still hurt. The incision area is buring and get needles and pins at times. The surgeon really does not want to deal with me and keeps saying it is the muscles are getting back in place. I am also limping. My operated leg is longer than the other leg. Again the doctor is not seeing it and is now blaming it on a pelvis tilt and says it will take a few months to straighten out and get even. I do not believe him. I have a terrible limp and feel it is never getting better. I now am going to a second opinion doctor and am asking for an MRI. Waiting to get the authorization. I know many people wo have had hip replacements and no one is having problems like I see on this website. It is amazing…Seems like a lot of people who write in are from England. The pain can be from a nerve. I am seeing a neurologist at the end of November. Stay in touch.

Hello Jeanette,

What treatment did you have after breaking your hip, did they pin it? It was only seven months ago therefore, maybe it is still healing. I am almost seven months post thr and depending on how active I have been on a particular day the hip varies in which part aches. Are you very active, that seems to cause a bit of groin pain some days.
