7 months TKR

Here it is 7 months after this crazy Knee Replacement surgery. Ups and downs more downs.  I'm 54. I thought I would never feel better. Horrified that next January I have to have my other knee done and definately not wanting too :-(

For those of you feeling depressed and worried as I have been through this horrible journey, I just want to say finally finally I'm feeling like it was worth it!  I don't have as much swelling or pain.

They say 6-12 months  don't be discouraged, rest, take your time.

Has taken 7 months and now I'm starting to see a light :-)

never thought I would. Be patient!

best of luck everyone ❤❤

I am 8 weeks post op and it has been hell.... still painful....hoping there is light at the end of the tunnel!!!

Thanks Jeanette, it's always good to hear something positive.  I'm just 12 weeks so still not benefiting as have good days and not so good!  All good wishes for your second knee at least we know what to expect!

That's really encouraging to hear Jeanette.

I'm 6 weeks post op this Tuesday and I must admit not many days have passed without me wishing I'd never gone through with this horrific operation ... not just physically but emotionally too.

Unless you've experienced TKR noone can

possibly understand how painful it is so it's good to hear your wonderful news!

Onwards and upwards

Jeanette that is really encouraging news, I'm only 7 weeks so I know I have a while to go yet. Some days are better than others, I was hoping the first 6 weeks are worst. So glad you're doing well & good luck with the other one

It does take time. Lots of tears for me, but yes will get better. Keep resting and ice ice ice. Ice was my best friend!

Good to know that the "light" is not an oncoming train...

Lovely to hear Jeanette. I am at about fourteen weeks now and really pleased to say I'm feeli better every day.  It is awful in the early days but well worth the struggle.

Well done Jean on your patience and strengthening. I am amazed at how the medical profession has advanced. You're a great sign of hope gor everyone. Our bodies do heal new cells grow. We can do it

Hi Jeanette,

I'm 5 months out.  Going to PT on my own since mid Dec.  my leg is burning, and it's stiff and sore.  So disappointed and discouraged.  I'm thinking of getting new PT bc the guy only touches my leg when he pushes down on my quad while heel is resting on one of those round things.  He puts weights on my ankles and I do the lifting.  Afterwards I sit in massage chair for 20 mins with ice wrap.  Haven't had therapeutic hands on since first two visits, then I was handed off to current one.  Feel like I've wasted so much valuable time 😥

What kind of light are are you Seeing?

TY

Thank you Jeanette!!! I am three months with my new left knee. We have our good days (really quite a few), but then there are some not so good days. I'm scheduled for May 15 for my right knee. It will be 5 months sine the left knee and so not wanting to do this again!!! In fact, I've been getting around well with my right knee and I'm thinking about putting it off a little longer. I appreciate your encouraging words! Good luck to you!

Well I was thinking I had something terribly wrong with my knee, I know others that didn't experience all the swelling for as long as I have. I couldn't walk far or stand long, when I was 3 weeks post op, the physio therapist had me walk down 14 stairs and back up which sent me to the hospital later that nite with horrendous swelling and pain, It was way too soon and it set me back and my healing was slow after that. I was so discouraged. Finally, these  last few weeks, I don't swell as much which is amazing, My knee feels so much better.  Long long road. So happy!

good luck with everything 😁

It's been 9 weeks since my TKR. I'm having trouble bending my knee, swelling and allot of pain on the inside of my knee. I want to go back to work but know I won't be able to my work. I'm a housekeeper in a very busy casino hotel. I clean 20 rooms a day sometimes. I will walk anywhere from 7 to 13 miles a day. I'm sinking financially. I'm a widow raising a daughter and scared I may not be able to go back to work. I can't even get my unemployment because I'm not able to look for a job. What my question is. Is it going to be 6 months before I can go back to work? I have talked to my doctor and therapist and they just day we will have to see. I'm getting scared that I'm going to lose everything and be living in a tent.

Me too. I'm still unable to bend my leg but 88°. I have swelling and allot of pain. Please tell me it gets better someone!!!

Hi. Oh I'm so sorry

I'm not sure. The thing is everyone heals different. Some faster. Some slower.

Sorry

I have been going to PT for about 6 weeks. I'm still doing the same things I started with. I'm very discouraged. I do more at home than there. I feel like it's a money thing just to keep me going to PT. Afraid to quit but need to advance forwards. I think I know how your feeling. I haven't seen no light at the end of the tunnel either.

Is there any way you can get temporary disability with your dr. writing that are unable to work for now..   I am at 8 weeks out from left tkr and I could not walk that much plus all the stooping you would need to do as you clean. I still have pain on the inside of my knee also and can not stand for covers to touch it at night..    Good luck

I'm not sure. You will have to contact your doctor

you will honest I didn't think I would either. 7 months. That's along time  be patient. Hard to do I know.

Hi Jeanette, not many people have mentioned about scar being touched. I cannot bear anything to touch mine either. I massage it 3 times s day with Bio oil & try to desensitise it but its SO sensitive. From day one I sleep with leg outside the covers. I thought at 7 weeks it wouldn't got better.
