7 weeks was my turning point

Hi all

I am 7 weeks post L TKR and I feel like I have finally reached that turning point others have previously mentioned..

At the beginning I felt I had been dragged to hell and back, I was in a horrid place with depression and I thought the tears would never stop. But now the shooting /stabbing pains have disappeared completely, even though my leg still feels 3 times as heavy as my good leg and the stiffness is just as bad as before, I now feel much brighter and more positive in my outlook.

Saw my surgeon last week who is very pleased with my progress.  I still have a way to go with my bend and I am concentrating even more on straightening my knee as this is my weak area. I still use a stick for walking round my neighbourhood as it gives my a little extra confidence.

Just wanted to share with all of you newly operated-on-patients who are wondering why you chose to have this insudious surgical procedure, there is light at the end of the tunnel. Hang in there exercise like your like depends on it, take your pain meds when you need them and you will reach your turning point too..

Good luck in your recoveries everyone. I wish you well.

Great to hear!

It is strange how we are in misery, and then things change for the better suddenly without warning. Like a SPECIAL GIFT that just drops from the sky!

I had my left knee done in June, and I am two weeks out with my right knee. It has been two very different experiences! My recent surgery was much easier all the way around for me despite it being on the worst knee if the two. Differences in procedure, too, at the same hospital, same surgeon.

Keep up the good work. I will, too. We will all make it through this!

Good news that you are over the worst! don't worry if you get the odd bad day now and again . .it happens . . but in general, from now on it's going to be improvement all the way. Yes, that heaviness and tightness goes on for ages, but does improve.  Mine STILL feel tighter than the other (it's ten months now!) but there is virtually no pain at all, only if I try to get more than the 120 bend, which I think is going to be my limit!  I did manage to get it straight in the end. . and that is quite a struggle, but worth it for the extra stability it gives you!

Good for you.  I'm 7 weeks in also.. My knee is feeling better but I still feel like I got the life knocked out of me.  So I totally understand what you are going through and wish you the best.
