My scar looks great except for one small spot at the bottom of my knee at the very end of the cut. It scabs up one day and the next it's red and irritated again. Just not healing as quickly as the rest of the scar. Anyone else had this? I see the doc in another week and didn't want to call him if it's no big deal
Hi I had my first knee done on the 1st of May this year, I had similar problem to you except top of the scar, so when I saw surgeon at six week checkup, which was actually at eight weeks, he said after looking, he thought it was an internal stitch, that hadn't dissolved and was trying to get out, but just keep an eye ,and it will come out and just pull it with tweezers gently, I still haven't got it, the little wound opens and closes regularly, but was told unless it itches or goes red, then not to worry. About seven years ago I had similar thing, which eventually turned into a tiny lump, and then I felt something so used tweezers to remove a massive thorn, which I had acquired on a hike about a year earlier, and could remember doing it, but then forgot , And lo and behold here it was about half an inch long . So obviously our bodies do reject what shouldn't be there eventually. Lol.yours might not be the same but it sounds like it to me. Good luck.
I am 4 month oit and mine is like that the surgent said it is still healing so nothing to worry about xx
Thank you for your reply. It makes sense and makes me feel much better. I immediately thought infection! Ugh!
That's good news! Thanks for your help!
Hi Retha - I had a similar experience - it almost looked like cardigan that had been buttoned up wrongly. However, I am now 16 weeks post op and the scar is healing well with just a slightly reddened spot at the bottom of the scar. Had my pre-op yesterday for the other knee. Glad I'm not a centipede!!!
Getting better night's sleep now so 'hang in there'. If you are worried, see your GP, it is what he is there for.
I had the same thing at the top of my incision and my PT said the same thing about the stitch. She said if it broke through the skin then pull it but it went away on its own about 5 weeks.
Thanks for the response! Good luck with the other knee surgery. I have mine scheduled for December 17th. Here's to not being centipedes!!!! lol
Good to know! Thanks for the response!
