7weeks post op

Hi folks I’m 7 weeks post op from posterior repair, and I’m still very tender when trying to have sex , tried twice now with no success, stings !! Any one else relate to what I’m going through, got to go for checkup next week , wanted to tell them all is good 😩feeling quite low about it !!!!

It's still very early days so I wouldn't worry too much. I'm 5 weeks and wouldn't want to think about it yet!

See what your consultant says at your check up, if they put your mind at rest you will feel more relaxed and that will help.  I think I waited until about 8 weeks after my first op.

Margaret as Imnotadoctor said five weeks is pretty early days. My consultant told me at five weeks it was ok but I can’t even sit on a chair yet. Sutures are dissolving now. I would rather wait a bit longer. Full healing takes months but initially six weeks and then 12 weeks are healing milestones.

Take it easy , be kind to yourself. When you next try use loads of lubrication gel such as ky.  don’t worry about your consultation it will be good for you to discuss these points.

I would imagine if will take ya all a fair while to feel relaxed enough for intimacy to go smoothly.

Hope things settle for you very soon 😊

Thank you for answering back ! Yes I think your right it’s early days , they say 6 weeks and you think that’s gospel, will talk to consultant about it , I am trying ky but no joy ! Got to start being patient lol again thank you xxx

Margaret after my surgery my consultant told me that I had pretty bad atrophy so my next job is to massage oestrogen cream  around the area externally daily and when sutures are healed to commence internal dosing of cream daily for four weeks. Perhaps you have s similar problem as this will affect the elasticity of our delicate membranes and tissues.

Before I was menopausal I had no awareness of any problems. Four years in and I fell apart! Good luck. I’m sure your consultant will be able to advise 😊

Yes think I will , I’m putting myself under to much pressure I think , just want to feel normal again 😳well close thank you

Owe really that might be what he suggests, had a bleed couple of weeks ago doctor checked and said I was still very raw , will give you update after I’ve seen consultant X

Five weeks really is very early, my consultant told me twelve weeks,  I thought she was joking, she wasn't! I had more surgery but I'm now seven months post op and sex is still painful. ☹️

I used Vagifem for over a year to "plump things up" before surgery, I'm sure this has helped. I don't know whether I will need to use it again - another question for the consultant I think.

Owe that’s awful, have you asked why it is still so painful, just shows you never 2 cases the same, a friend of mine had 3 ops in 1 go , and was back to normal sex life 6 weeks post op 😳 , hope it gets easier for you soon , it must bring you down x

Just looked it up wish I had knew about this before, I would of definitely of given it a go , will ask doctor is it worth using now , thank you x

Hi Margaret. I had an anterior and posterior repair plus a vaginal hysterectomy and sacrospinous fixation, quite a package!

At about twelve weeks it was 'so tight' penetration was almost impossible, that was from the posterior repair, I think. My consultant said all was fine but ..... ouch.

I saw my GP about a month ago and possibly have granulation deep inside, at the vaginal vault. I have another appointment on January 2nd, I too was prescribed Vagifem (now unavailable in the UK, so have Ovestin), I think this is helping the healing. ☹️

We are indeed all different, my initial recovery was fantastic and if I didn't want sex I might not know about the deep internal problem!

I'm in the UK and can still get Vagifem Sheila.

Bless you we go through it don’t we , hope we all get sorted soon take care x

Yes, I've heard of others, my pharmacy told me it was no longer being produced. I'm in Northampton. Xx

Hi Margaret, we are at similar stage post op. Although I was told initially sex would be OK from 6 weeks, I did not feel well enough to try. I had post op check at 7 weeks and told healing was progressing but slowly. I was told no sex, exercise, etc until checked again at 12 weeks. My insides are just too tender and sore at the moment. I hope though things improve and that intercourse will be possible and pleasurable, seems a distant prospect at the moment.

Hi, I am in Berkshire and my pharmacy haven't be able to fulfill my latest prescription for Vagifem for last 2 weeks. They can't get supplies. I don't know if this is short term or long term issue but concerned as don't know if there is an alternative available apart from Estriol cream which although effective is very messy.

Yes I was told 6 weeks and be fair took it as gospel! I would be in working order lol 😳 little did I know, I still feel a little swollen it’s 7 weeks today, some days I feel great and feel great down below, then like today feel swollen again very odd, looking forward to seeing gynaecologist next Tuesday just a bit anxious, return to work next week to , 😳

I'm in the south west & my Vagifem was ready for collection this week so it is out there. Obviously being 6 weeks post op I can't use it yet in fact my consultant said it may not be necessary but I see her next week so will ask then.  I already take HRT tablets daily so she feels to use both may be too much. Maybe it's different health authorities?

Hi folks

Nor sure how to use this site.  I am 6 weeks post repair for a posterior repair, the surgeon also performed a SSF too.  I am not too bad in myself although have had an infection which has been treated.  My main problem is the fact that no one told me how long I would have stitches in for.  The pamphlet given to me at the pre op said 2 - 4 weeks. I am now at 6 weeks and when I saw the GP he said it would be some time yet before the stitches dissolve.  The main problem I have and can't find an answer to is that whenever I have a bowel movement (aided by lactulose) I bleed from my vagina. Not a lot but it is fresh and it worries me. I have been back to GP but they just offered me more anti biotics.  I think I might have  some leakage from a stitch, oh and by the way it is all very tender in that area.  Suggestions please.
