8 months post THR......discomfort, waking during night and weird feeling in bottim of foot

Hi Everyone!

I am 8 monts post THR. I know it takes well up to and even over a full year to heal from surgery, but I was just wondeting if you continue to have new symptoms of discomfort? At first I would have discomfort and twinges around knee area of operated leg, which I was told was normal. I have recently experienced what feels lije nerve discomfort on the bottom of my foot which seems to radiate through my leg. I recently joined a gym to try to get back into shape with clearance from dr. I started swimming a bit and going on stationery bike( raised seat) for 30 min a few times a week. It felt good but I am also experiencing some discomfort and still wake at night more often then I did before. Has anyone else experienced this? Coukd it be related to increased activity?

Hi my boys

I too at only 3 weeks post up have some nerve damage rt foot top left foot bottom

Will follow up with mri in few weeks and foot dr etc

But i had my physical therapist stretch my foot as i flexed and pointed and i cried my rt toe tip felt different

Try new stuff daily and c if nerve stuff comes back

All hugs and healing fairy dust as they say on our forum

I keep getting more aches and pains as I start increasing levels of activity at almost 6 months. I really think mine are related to go along to renewed intensity of activity and connections in the muscles.

I hope yours get easier and less frequent.

Take care.

Thank you Linda,

I have a feeling my symptoms are due to the increase of activity as well. Hopefully my body will adjust soon. I have a follow up in a few weeks. Wishing you all the best in your recovery!

Hi Lori,

What do you mean by disomfort? Is there tightness, stiffness, muscle aches? I have that too -

sounds like you are doing good though - the swimming and stationary bike - just make sure that you are doing it correctly - do you have a PT who checks your posture etc - I knwo that this is somehow my issue - did things without supervision - I used to work out diligently pre hip issues and think I know how to do this - things have changed, obviously and had 2 THR surgeries -

I don't know what to tell you about the bottom of your foot - I have read a lot about plantar fasciitis on the forum recently ..

How many times do you wake up during the night? do you have to go to the bathroom then and are you able to go back to sleep?

big warm hug

renee

Hi Renee,

Thank you for your response. The discomfort I feel Is like a ache that is sometimes throbbing. I cant seem to get comfortable on my side at night( sleep on both sides), even with a pillow btwn my knees. I wake up at least 3-4 times a night, shifting positions. Took a break from the gym for about a week as my family went on vacation. I'm going to switch to the elliprical machine and see if thats any better. Wishing you all the best.

Lori

oh dear, I don't like the throbbing -

there are nights that I can't get comfortable either - also on both sides - Then I feel my scars (one on each side) or think I feel the hardware - but more uncomfortable than throbbing -

wishing you nights with uninterrupted hours of sleep !!!
