8 Week Hip Bombshell

To my horror my wound became inflamed from midweek 18th March. Have now landed up in hospital - A & E to investigation Ward took 10 hours on Friday!!! So far no antibiotic is working - Monday is another week and source of investigation -  worst scenario, replace the new hip. Currently it is very inflamed and sore when I move from wound to groin.

The only thing I can think is that I have done TOO MUCH TOO SOON - take great care, it is easy to forget FHR is a MAJOR OP. Forty years ago you had to lie flat on your back for TEN days! HH

Oh, H!

Can only wish you the v v best of luck x

So sorry to hear you are having problems.

I am 6 weeks post op and your post has been a warning for myself to not over do things too soon.

I hope you feel better soon.

So sorry to hear that . Good luck

Hello horseyhorsey

I'm so sorry to hear your news and I hope they find something to treat it with soon so you don't have to have it replaced.

It is a very good message though for people to take need and not do to much to soon, I'm 8 weeks now too and after a day out yesterday with quite a bit of walking, I am resting today as I start work tomorrow, only a few hours then a day off etc for the rest of the week.

I think this is a dangerous time as you think in your head you can do things and sometimes you just forget and do things first and think afterwards.

As you say its a major op and just cos we are out of hospital quick and only a little medical contact doesn't mean we can just act as normal.

My consultant said it takes 3 months for the muscles to knit together around the new hip and from what others have said on this site 12 months before you can carry on as normal, so I think we should take heed.

Its probable that your problem isn't due to overdoing it though and whatever reason, I wish you a speedy recovery.

So sorry to hear this. Wishing you very best

Thank you v much.

Thank you so much. It sounds as if you had much more 'chat time'  with your Consultant.

Sending loads of get well vibes, HH. I have everything crossed that they can resolve this without the need for surgery as you were doing so well.

Take care.

To be honest I think we all do to much, I am 20 weeks and because the weather been nice last few days I thouhht I would potter in my garden, well I did to much. I had to have an injection last Tuesday cause still in tremendous pain and became complacent because on Friday as I was bending I felt this crunch and then bit later on bent to pick something up and crunch/crack thought my hip was dislocating. Soon sat down but then today again a crunch/ PPP feeling I nearly threw up it was awful, don't know wether to ring doctor tumoro or just take it easy, what does everyone think

Sounds nasty to me . If no better in morning I would see dr . Good luck

Hi hh

yes my 6 week appointment went well I have felt I could contact any of the medical team at any time should I need to.

However as you've probably gathered I do tend to talk a lot anyway, I ask lots of questions and say what I think lol.

I would ring doctor tomorrow to check Georgina.

Thanks Mary and Christine prob have to cause got real bad pain down leg and knee feels awful x

Ring Dr or hospital.  Best to check. Sounds nasty
